• Video Editing Desktop Build

PartPicker: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/b3DrgL Also posted on /r/buildapc Thinking of finally building a desktop for video editing and what not. Ideally this should last me 3-5 years. What is your intended use for this build? Video editing with 4K footage in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, exporting videos, VFX, playing video games such as GTA V, office productivity while running several displays at 1440p or lower res, 60Hz (at least 3). If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, frame rate, game settings) As long as I can play GTA V at 1440p at 60fps, in medium/high settings, any 1070 would likely be good enough. I do know that 1070 prices are inflated due to mining. May go for a 1080/1080 Ti for better single-card performance. I only plan on getting 1 GPU. What is your budget? $3000 Canadian, no need to worry about the taxes. In what country are you purchasing your parts? Toronto, Ontario, Canada, can go to local stores for pick up instead of getting it shipped if shipping costs a bit. Additional details I picked Ryzen 1700 because it was suggested that you can overclock it with a good cooler to match 1800X performance for less money. Also 8-core Intel equivalent is way more expensive. As much as I'd love more cores, the budget says otherwise. I was editing 4K 60FPS footage from a GH5 (which is compressed at 150Mbps) and an i7-7700 (4-core) was too slow in Premiere Pro. I do know that if I transcode the footage to something less compressed, it won't be slow/laggy, however I do want to avoid transcoding in general. I have a number of older SATA hard drives (WD Caviar Blue, Black) that I plan on using in build to add more storage so a single SSD is enough. I will likely get a NAS for footage in the future. I'd be ok with getting the 960 EVO instead to lower costs, the performance increase and longer warranty isn't a huge deal breaker. However I'd want NVMe performance and make use of the m.2 slots on the motherboard. I picked this case because I wanted a mid-tower with plenty of space for future expansion (potentially more PCI-e devices such as USB 3 expansions; hard drives, etc.), tool-less drive caddies and not needing anything fancy. I don't care about being able to look at the insides of the computer. It's going to be placed under my desk on the floor. Only compatibility issue indicated on PartPicker was "The Corsair - H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the Asus - PRIME X370-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard." The one that I've ordered off Amazon Canada, which is still in transit, may have the bracket for AM4. After looking at the reviews and questions section, it's half and half. If it doesn't come with one, I'd find/get it elsewhere. Ideally I'd like this to be a quiet desktop, it would be in my room and I sometimes would run it overnight with low-end tasks (i.e. uploading something to somewhere) or high-end tasks (i.e. exporting videos). During actual use, I usually use speakers or headphones for music, games, etc. Any suggestions, feedback, etc.? Since you are going for a closed case with no windows get a Noctua NH-D15(AM4 version) instead of that AiO it beats that hands down in cooling and will do better on longer burns than an AiO. Other than that i suggest getting a 3200 mghz ram instead with the money you saved from buying the noctua cooler instead of the corsair one. (ryzen benefits more with ram speeds might be a good investment down the line when more bios updates come) Also dont forget to add one or 2 more aux fans to your case if you decided to use a air cooler!

hiiii please see the effects of this site:(smartmall.ir) videos; what the program can help me to add the beautiful effcet on my video? (User was permabanned for this post ("Spambot" - Sgt Doom))
It can always be returned
Also if you plan to get a 1080, with higher ram speeds you will see noticable improvement in FPS as shown HERE.

Apparently the V1 came with it but the V2 didn't, and it's hard to get in Canada. You gotta order it online off some reseller and pay for shipping. There's a free option but it doesn't cover Canada, it only covers USA and some other countries. Gee thanks Corsair. Only place I found so far is http://www.ncix.com/detail/corsair-am4-amd-retention-bracket-kit-41-140208.htm and some other places, same $9.99 price tag.. Anyways, I'll take your advice with the cooler and get that instead, and possibly get higher frequency RAM if it is very beneficial for Ryzen performance. Also wouldn't the liquid cooler be quieter or does it literally not make it quieter compared to the fan you recommended plus more fans? The case I selected seems to come with fans, as seen in the product photos. [editline]14th July 2017[/editline] https://www.amazon.ca/Noctua-NH-D15-SE-AM4-premium-grade-cooler/dp/B06WD4PN52/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1500063751&sr=8-2&keywords=Noctua+NH-D15 This is the only one I could find in Canada for AMD AM4, costs 95 cents more than the CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i v2 cooler tho.
You cant go wrong with getting that noctua cooler instead even if it cost the same as an h100i and wont be able to upgrade your ram there have been some horror stories of aios leaking and i wouldnt risk that if i can just get an air cooler that out performs it and noctua fans are pretty good they would be most likely be more silent than the corsair fans. But for asthetics if you have a windowed case watercooled systems look damn good tho.
Your build is missing a video card. I'd look towards going for a 1070 or a 1080ti, but both may be over your budget if you want to render with CUDA.

I'd still try and get something with a nonreference cooler

Will swap the part out for the one you suggested. It's also still within budget.
yup, in the updated part picker list, I picked faster RAM (and a better Mobo)
Looks good, just remember to oc the memory in the bios later as it will run on 2666 stock on that board.
