Just a tease really but still news worthy IMO.

This will be built and isn't some crazy concept rocket.
It's not the Falcon Heavy?
It's not the Falcon Heavy?
Nope, it's the BFR (big fucking rocket) that's supposed to push payloads to beyond the Moon
It's not the Falcon Heavy?
Falcon Heavy will be flying by the end if this year. (Or was it Q1 next year?)

Is there any kind of accompanied article you can find to give the thread a but more up to date information about the thing, or the Aeronautical Conference?

Yeah, the BFR is the rocket that's supposed to put humans on Mars.
pls respond to my application spacex
Looking good
Can't wait
Oh, that's some exciting news! I can't wait for September to roll around; here's hoping SpaceX is hiring some more engineers and programmers for the Falcon Heavy and this new system in the coming years...

it got pushed to mid-late Q-1 because of the need for more pads, permits, testing and whatnot plus their already tight schedule in trying to get back on track from the grounding last year
I just got accepted to the propulsion internship in Texas with SpaceX. Can't wait to be working them engines every day.

What was the process like?
What was the process like?
I applied online to every internship they offered engineering wise. Got a call 3 weeks later, it was 10 minutes. They talked about what spaceX does and asked why I want to work there. Then they set up a technical.
The technical was 20 minutes, very quick. You internview with your would be boss, usually a senior manager. Very in dept, technical, ask you about projects you worked on, what you know about SpaceX and tech questions like what is ISP or explain how liquid rocket engines work. The they say thanks and click.
I got a call a week later saying I got accepted to both internships and I had a choice. I went with propulsion cause it's my dream job.
Did they talk about what housing is like? Or are you on your own to find a place in McGregor or Waco? I know at Hawthorne they pretty much have an apartment for interns off site, but never heard about the accommodations at McGregor. Very interested in that place though since I'm just two hours or so down the road.
(Let me know about Dragonfly hops please)

They also have the same accommodations in Waco with an apartment to rent through SpaceX but right now it's full. So basically me and other interns are trying to find apartments in the area. Usually kids lease out from kids at Baylor U.

For those interested in an internship with them it all comes down to that 20 minutes tech interview if you get that far. Know your projects inside and out, specifically what you worked on. I had 9 pages of just shit to stare at while i talked so I was ready to respond to his questions right away. The more technical knowledge you show, confidently, the better chance you have.
I wish the Sea Dragon concept had not been killed by funding cuts. It's so insane and yet so insanely practical, like just look at the size of this thing.

I'd like to hear stories about the process for non-engineers. Seems like all the application process stories are all engineers and the infamous two phone calls. But what about the business Ops guys, or the sales people, or the janitorial staff or baristas. Do they grill you on how to properly wring out a microfiber mop in a water and pinesol solution?
Though I've heard a story about a personal request by Elon to hire Baristas by going to the best coffee shop in town and then hiring the current employee of the month on the spot.

Ooohh, I was trying to find that one when I first saw this thread but couldn'tremember the name. That things so rediculous that it takes off semi-submerged in the fucking ocean (iirc)

I think the process is the same, the grill you on just different material.

Did you get accepted into the fall, spring, or summer opening?

"practical" nobody's tried lighting an engine bigger than the f-1 underwater
[editline]28th July 2016[/editline]
actually nobody's really tried lighting rocket engines underwater except the navy and they had considerable trouble with it
