You can impress other people, entertain yourself in class, start conversations, and, as long as you're not pretentious about it, look like a pretty chill guy. It also helps increase your coordination in general. [B]Why did [I]you[/I] make this thread?[/B] I've been doing it for about a year now, give or take a month, and I've gotten pretty good. Welp, when I got home this morning, my net was down so I decided to record a video and make a thread about pen spinning on Facepunch. [B]But how can I start? I don't have any gay pens lying around.[/B] I'd suggest you start with an unsharpened pencil, or if you're feeling adventurous, go out and make a [URL="http://upsb.info/wiki/index.php?title=BICtory"]BICtory mod[/URL]. It's a lightweight, easy to make mod which uses pens that are easily available to anybody, especially in the U.S. The first trick I learned was the thumbaround, but these basic tricks can be learned in any order. I just found the thumbaround to be the easiest, while others find the fingerpass easier.. It's preference. Don't be discouraged if you're having trouble, just remember that the key to success is practice, practice, and more practice. Muscle memory will eventually develop and you could do the tricks blind. I can spin a pen around my thumb but alas that's all I can do. Then you try that shit in public and the pen flys across the room and you look like a pillock.

My friend is an expert pen spinner.

You'll just look like an asshat, keep it simple and just do simple tricks for kicks when it actually makes sense.

I can do a fingerpass pretty quickly.

You should be able to learn a thumbaround in a day or two, I've seen people learn it in less than an hour. Just watch the videos carefully, and it helps if you know someone in real life who can do it.

I swear there's one of these threads made every six months or something. And it never has enough contributors or regulars to justify a v2, so the thread sort of just fades into obscurity.

I can also assist users who need help with any tricks, too, so that's good.

I'd be so much better at this if I didn't have shaky hands.

I can safely say I will never be able to do any of that

I assume those people often get overcome with accomplishment while they sit there fiddling with a pen, watching somebody graduate or something..

This is very similar to that coin spinning trick, general hand tricks really. Always been interesting in them. I'd say anyone that likes to fiddle with their fingers would be interested in this. Actually moving out of your own way however to learn it I don't think many would. Can't see my self taking this seriously that's for sure. I just tried a thumbaround, couldn't even begin to get it working for the life of me. I'm not in the most comfortable position, and I have trouble with the initial flick & getting it balanced on my fingers right.
