This'll be my friend's first computer capable of playing anything decent (she's only got a laptop that can hardly play minecraft at the moment).
Unfortunately, while I know how to build a computer (I mean who can't), I'm terrible with actually choosing the proper parts.
My bff Applecrap chose all the parts for my current computer, and through the clever use of Newegg combo deals I was able to build a powerful computer for ~$700. The thing is though, I already had a harddrive, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and monitor, which let me spend that money solely on the heavy lifting components of the computer.
My friend doesn't have anything, aside from the mouse, so annoyingly (I'm assuming) she can't spend as much on a more powerful/expensive GPU/CPU.
Maybe we could just focus on spending the $800 on the major parts (not the monitor/keyboard), since she can probably find inexpensive ones somewhere (unless there's a really good combo deal on newegg involving a monitor/keyboard).
She just pre-purchased Guild Wars 2, and during the Steam Christmas/Winter event I gave her a Valve Complete pack that I won from one of the game achievements (already have all of Valve's games), so the computer will need to be able to play most, if not all, games with ease.
So could you wonderful guys lend a hand? Applecrap is busy with schoolwork, so he'll eventually help me out, but even he asked for advice on my PC build, so I decided to come here.
Thanks a million!

You won't need to spend that much since PC games died out 5 years ago

Oh duh, I completely forgot about that. Thanks! I'll tell her to get a console instead. I think a PS3 will work. Oooh wait, no, an XBox.
Wait, I've got it, a WiiU
If she needs an OS and keyboard and mouse:

OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986
GPU is a little weak, but it makes up for it in VRAM for sure. and it's DX11 compatable. Only a Duo core (and an AMD one at that), but if she needs a monitor and peripherals, she's gonna have to cut something.

If she doesn't need all the extras, built this mofo:

Extra RAM (over budget, omit or get it later): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231193
Oh man, I completely forgot about the OS. I'll see if that friend of mine that bought that giant Windows suite thing with tons of keys for everything still has some Win 7 Ultimate ones.
But this is awesome, thanks!

Yeah, and if she does need the mouse and all that you can do the second build with a 6870 1GB or something instead. Still plenty beefy, but not a throbbing e-peen (even if it is a little outdated)
Also, I have the same case.
Were there any "combo" deals though? I saved a bunch of emone through all the combo deals my friend managed to find.

Actually, I just totally realized something.
As college students we get Windows 7 and Office, etc, for free.
Yay. So now more money can be spent for other things!
Revision?
Alright, here's what she's decided on:
Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009317
Keyboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823107128
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233
CD/DVD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118031
Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102987
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016
MOBO/CPU/RAM/Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.864863
Yea or Nay?
