With the Republican presidential candidates and the national press corps descending on Iowa for Thursday night’s presidential debate and Saturday’s straw poll, the former Alaska governor announced Wednesday that she would “jump back on the bus” to come to the Iowa State Fair here in Des Moines. In an e-mail to her supporters, Palin wrote: “We are very happy to jump back on the bus for another leg of our ‘One Nation Tour’! We accept with gratefulness an invitation to meet folks at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week. The heartland is perfect territory for more of the One Nation Tour as we put forth efforts to revitalize the fundamental restoration of America by highlighting our nation’s heart, history, and founding principles.” It was unclear when Palin would appear at the fair. A Palin spokesman did not immediately reply. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, the current GOP front-runner in the presidential race, is scheduled to campaign at the fairgrounds on Thursday. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) and former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty are due there Friday, and a slew of other candidates are planning to make the rounds, too. Palin is scheduled to return to Iowa over Labor Day weekend. She has said she is still weighing whether to jump into the presidential contest and indicated she would make her decision by September. In her e-mail, Palin said “prudent Americans” live within their means, including “seeking affordable participation in more community events, local patriotic parades, and traditional all-American venues like state fairs.” Palin added that she is “excited to try some of that famous fried butter-on-a-stick, fried cheesecake-on-a-stick, fried twinkies, etc. I’ll enjoy them in honor of those who’d rather make us just ‘eat our peas’!” That was a reference to President Obama, who exhorted congressional leaders to “eat our peas” in making tough choices during the recent debt debate. Palin released a new video on her political action committee’s Web site Wednesday coinciding with her announcement. Palin narrates the 55-second film, titled “Always Proud,” which features footage of corn fields and the Iowa State Fair set to an inspirational soundtrack. “A writer observed, we grow good people in our small towns with honesty and sincerity and dignity,” Palin says in the video. “And I know just the kind of people that writer had in mind. I grew up with those people. They’re the ones who do some of the hardest work in America, who grow our food and run our factories and fight our wars. They love our country in good times and bad — and they’re always proud of America.”
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/61067.html She's trying to steal the attention... I would rather be on the Herman Cain train than the Palin Bus.
seriously you see all these bullshit choices being made by republicans on the points of abortion and gay marriage etc, supposedly that it violates gods will. and then they have the nerve to call democrats idealistic.
