...and perish in hell. CDMA is a giant fake. Companies are putting a great deal of money into something we all know will fail epically. As a result, half of the ANDROID phones I want to buy are CDMA and not GSM. If I buy a CDMA phone, it will stop being supported and the network will become slower and worse (as they start to decommission all their CDMA shit). [repeat?] Why don't you just buy a CDMA phone? I remember the switch from TDMA to CDMA. My dad's friend kept on receiving SMS from Bell. Eventually one of the messages from Bell gave him a virus which flipped his screen upside down. He took it to Bell so they could fix it and they simply said "We don't cover these phones anymore". Sneaky fucking pieces of shit! GSM all the fucking way! Plus, the CDMA carriers in Canada have waaaaaayyyyy shittier plans.
Wait... I'm lost... What?
Companies using CDMA is trying to get us to buy their phones (which don't even have SIM Cards) when we ALL know that CDMA is going to fail. In fact, the switch from CDMA to GSM is starting [with Verizon].
Wait... I'm lost... What?
Umm, CDMA is fine.
OP, back the fuck up... What's "TDMA" "CDMA" and "GSM" for starters?
CDMA is what verizon uses. No sim card. GSM uses sim cards such as T mobile. CDMA phones suck ass.

Carriers like Virgin, Solo and Koodo will fallow shortly in the next fiscal year. Telus plans to upgrade all of its towers to HSPA. GSM is no longer the fastest network in Canada, Rogers is currently going through a legal battle with Telus due to Rogers false claims of being the fastest network in Canada. I have great knowledge in this area, i have managed a cell phone outlet for 3 years now.
I remember TDMA... I used to have one of those fat Nokia phones, but then it stopped working after Cingular switched to GSM. They always gotta switch these damn protocols around and break shit :sigh:
What does an iphone have and am I going to die as a result of your answer?
What does an iphone have and am I going to die as a result of your answer?
Uses a sim card, so GSM or HSPA.
kickass

Sprint pumped a fuck ton of money into their CDMA network. There is no chance they are switching over anytime soon.
I love GSM. Allows me to use my e75 when I wanna look like a rich asshole, and use my shit nokia 6061 when I wanna get angry and chuck the fucker at the wall.
UMTS or 3G GSM is WCDMA. It's based off CDMA. CDMA in America ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Don't think your handsets are going to become incompatible within the next 10 years. Verizon will soon have it's first LTE (4G) network up soon, but don't expect a switchover within the next 10 years.
CEDA sucks
Finland is 100% GSM. Nokia, fuck yeah. :smug:
Does this affect Verizon in America at all?
I don't even have a phone guys... I have no clue what the fuck you just said.
CEDA sucks
Yes, yes it does.
CDMA sucks ass. I want sim cards.
Ugh. I don't know what any of this shit is.
I miss CDPD. I fucking loved my air card before they switched CDPD service off.
My favourite is ZFPV+.

I didn't know that I knew that. Odd, considering I don't know what CDMA is.
Finland is 100% GSM. Nokia, fuck yeah. :smug:
Same here in Denmark, but partly 3g. [editline]11:44AM[/editline] Wait, 3G might be CDMA. This shit is confusing.
I think UK is GSM and 3g. I haven't a clue.
I think UK is GSM and 3g. I haven't a clue.
Indeed. We have been using GSM for years as standard.
Why is america so slow with everything?
Same here in Denmark, but partly 3g. [editline]11:44AM[/editline] Wait, 3G might be CDMA. This shit is confusing.
Well I meant for the SMS and calls. Finland is 3.5G in most parts of the country, elsewhere EDGE and 3G are available. (Read: 3G not available in somewhere like Lapland and it falls back to EDGE and 3.5G is available only for like, the large cities, middle sized cities and most of the small cities.) [Read: 3.5G = HSPDA] {Read: HSPDA = High-Speed Downlink Packet Access)
Wait, 3G might be CDMA. This shit is confusing.
3G GSM (or known as UMTS) is WCDMA. 3G CDMA is known as CDMA2000 EV-DO.
