• Recovering Deleted Files

Hey guys. A couple of days ago the computer wasn't working and because my brother wasn't patient enough to wait for me to come home to fix it he decided to delete random folders which included all of my music, songs that I have wrote and coding material that I've worked on over the years. I know it is possible to recover the data with a recovery program but I am wondering what the best program to use is. Also, I tried system restoring but it will not restore it back to the time I set it to. Any help would be appreciated.
I know that there's a lot of software around for that but I can't give anything else other than iCare data Recovery because it just works and that's it. Sadly it costs money and if you try the demo version all it recovers are 10 files. So yeah. [editline]21st November 2013[/editline] Google around and try not to download too many new files or else they might override the deleted files on the drive.
GParted has a data recovery option. It's free to use and might be more reliable than proprietary alternatives, but its designed to detect deleted partitions. I'm not sure if it'll recover all deleted data. In the future you should make a github account so you can keep your coding work backed up and version controlled. [editline]asf[/editline] This article refers to a program called Recuva that can recover data in Windows as well.
Because I couldn't system restore in normal mode I booted it up in safe mode an did a system restore. The system restore worked in safe mode, however when I checked to see if my files were back only the folders remained but not the files. I tried restoring it back earlier however as soon as I restored it back it would shut off and go back to the original date I restored it to. It might have just been a fluke that it shut off and restored it back to the original date I restored it to but I don't understand why my folders are there but my files aren't. Have you guys got any ideas?
Careful. The more you mess with your drive-- the more likely the files are lost forever. We have already recommended what you should do, please heed our advice.

Recuva. Also avoid using the free space on your harddrive untill you have recovered your files.
I used Recuva and searched music files that were deleted, I searched in the recycling bin section and they weren't there, the thing is though I searched when I restored it back to before they were deleted. Should I restore it back to after the files were deleted and then search again?
A restore only restores system files as far as I know, so chances are you're SOL
I really hope I can get them back.
all your restoring may have just completely ruined any chances of getting them back
Unfortunately I cannot retrieve the deleted files, they are gone forever and it's something I'm just going to have to accept. However, I've decided to transfer the songs from my Ipod onto the computer, I do think this will work and I did do it however I accidentally added duplicates so it's completely fucked up my Itunes library and every time I delete the duplicates they are still there when I reopen Itunes. Is there any fix for this?
Are you using the latest version of iTunes, and do the duplicates appear on your iPod?
Are you using the latest version of iTunes, and do the duplicates appear on your iPod?
I ended up downloading all my songs off my Ipod and then deleting all the music out of itunes and putting it back on there.
Hello, If you want to recover your deleted data back, then you should take a help of a professional application of Windows Data Recovery. There are a lot of software available for this task, I would also like to mention here such a perfect software named as Kernel for Windows Data Recovery software. You can find out a free demo of this software from here http://www.recoverdeletedfiles.org/ (User was permabanned for this post ("" - rilez)) (User was permabanned for this post ("Spam" - rilez))

As per my experience, i shall suggest you to use Remo Recover once. Recently, it helped me a lot to retrieve all deleted files on my computer. Where many of application fails to recover those files, i was just surprised with its outcome. (User was permabanned for this post ("Bot" - Craptasket))
