The Taliban told the BBC a suicide bomber had detonated explosives, and other fighters attacked the building. Initial reports say seven people have been wounded. A gun battle between insurgents and security forces is ongoing.[/quote]
I wonder if this has anything to do with the Embassy shutdown that happened recently
Typical 9/11 anniversary attacks. They do them every year. Last year when I was over there, they gave my base a nice present in the form of a 177mm rocket. They also gave Bagram Air Field a barrage of rockets, disabling a few of our sister units' helicopters and managing to also hit a Chinook on the flight line, killing about 3 afghan army soldiers. It's their twisted way of "reminding" us. As combat operations are winding down considerably, and more and more outposts and forward operating bases are closed, they realize that the "open season" on American personnel is ending fast, and they will take every opportunity to try and "bag" an American before we completely withdraw. I certainly hope that they repel this attack with great prejudice, as is the norm.
