*I actually made a whole batch of these with different effects which was not hard but the program messed up the resolution, defeating the purpose of it being a background, so I'll still have more it's just not gonna be exactly what I wanted to do.
I cast MAGIC MISSLE. :science:
It looks jpegy. Also a rather easy affect to achieve. Could possibly look better if the lines flowed more, and if it wasn't jpeg'd.
Everything on the original version was done by hand, there were no full-image effects used on that one.
And what you're seeing that makes it look "jpeggy" is merely the grit and grain of the digital canvas.

Yes, I know everything was done by hand, and I also know how easy it is... I'm not saying it just to call you out, I am saying that, since it is easy, you could probably do better.. Smoother lines and such.
Believe me, I would if I could. But, without a Wacom tablet it's simply not possible for me without undo-ing it about a thousand times.
I'm sure you can do better than that with a mouse :).
Never save as jpeg.
For gods sake, never save as jpeg.
what would you have me save them as?

Unless you set the quality to maximum, then it's okay.
War_man333 is right, JPEG doens't necessarily has to be bad quality, In almost every photo editing program, and in Photoshop for sure, you can set the quality of the JPEG when saving.
5:4 aspect ratio :ohdear:
.pngs look exactly the same as .jpeg and there is no option for quality
this program - is not the best.
Looks pretty pixelated.
