A new assault at video games:
A new study suggests video games that involve reckless driving may play out in real life. Researchers say their data should not be taken lightly since car accidents are the number one cause of death for teenagers. Three different countries conducted research that now links games like "Grand Theft Auto" to actual reckless driving, speeding, crossing double yellow lines and tailgating. "I like it. It has a lot of story to it but however it does involve breaking into cars and kind of driving recklessly," said video game player Zack Stewart. The research found that kids who played driving games were twice as likely to get pulled over by police. "All showing the same thing that games that feature a lot of reckless driving the heavy players of those games carry that behavior over to the road," said Dr. David Walsh. The research comes on the heels of a record number of teenagers losing their lives on Minnesota roadways. Nineteen teenagers have died in car accidents in the past six months. Walsh, founder of Mind Positive Parenting, says parents must monitor what their children are doing. Walsh says video games are good teachers, but what's questionable is what they are teaching. "We need to make sure that we don't let the entertainment, the video games that we play carry over to real life," said Walsh, who added there are positive applications for video games. Stewart says he also plays games that teach good driving habits. He believes experience plays a role in whether a game will affect the way you operate your car. "If you are 16 years old and you start playing the game and you just got your license, it probably could have some effect," said Stewart. The findings do not directly link playing video games to reckless driving. They only show an association. Researchers say the impact of playing games like "Grand Theft Auto" is minimal.
Certainly explains my tenancies to drive on the sidewalk, and act like im playing Underground 1 with a rice burner. Yeah, I'm not that good at driving. Whoops.
Shit, I always knew all that burnout 3 and burnout paradise was going to bite me in the ass someday.
Does that mean that watching Cops will also effect my driving because of all the high speed pursuits?
I just hate how people connect behavior in games to behavior in real life.
This applies to those who are literally immersed into GTA.
So driving bad in video games might affect driving in real life? Alright, my turn. Publishing stupid information like this might make you more stupid.
OMG videogames explain how you can operate tanks and helicopters.
Bullshit. My brother used to play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 loads of times, and he drives just fine.
I drive lorries over hills at 1000mph all the time
Bullshit. My brother used to play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 loads of times, and he drives just fine.
At night, he hops in his Enzo and fucks a cops day up.
There's an ENORMOUS difference between using keyboard keys/gamepads and steering wheels in real cars, you have to be an absolute retard to drive your car just as you do in a video game. What matters is consciousness of your responsibility while driving a vehicle, it's definitely not a toy, and it's not made for psychically immature people.
Just because everybody, including the people who get in accidents, play video games it means that the video games made them bad drivers.
Yeah, I'm not that good at driving. Whoops.
Oh shit, I gotta play that again!
Yeah, I'm not that good at driving. Whoops.
brb downloading that (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - Greeman))
GTA is probably my favorite game but I consider myself to be a very decent driver, I certainly feel 100x safer and more comfortable riding in my own car than my friends', who don't play nearly as many games as I do.
I play Forza on occasion. I must be the perfect driver.
When i drive i'm obviously not going to start plowing into drivers.
I also jump ramps all the time and park my car ontop of a skycrapers But for some reason I always forgot how to get them back down. Oh, right

This is BULLSHIT, when I started driving I was shitting myself behind the wheel and was anxious. So I took my time, I like to stay safe on the road. You know why? because I know the difference between reality and virtual reality and I'm sure alot of gamers know this too. You can't blame all factors on video games that's just a lie, if a person doesn't know the proper way to behave in society in the first place something is bound to go wrong. Its down to the person and what they have been taught, not violent entertainment. I think alot of this bullshit is coming from higher crime rates and people have to blame it on something perhaps? I don't know. All i know is that Crimes rates are bound to go up, people are finding more extreme measures to earn money and have fun. At least video games offer another window for some people to unleash their violence rather than dishing it out in real life.
Big Rigs innit.
My dad first let me drive a car when I was 12 in a car park near a beach. I was so fucking good I felt like goddamn Jason Statham. Couldn't reach the pedals though lol.
I'm the shittiest driver in most games (I win races but fuck up my car pretty badly) yet I am an amazing driver in real life. I have yet to get a ticket! Gaybows!

What if you only play realistic racing games with a steering wheel?
I thought it was just the fact that those tested were all women.
bullshit, i have my playing of countless racing games across my life to thank for my driving abilities. I've not once fucked up, ever.
