He's a dick to his audience but I don't interact with youtube comments ever anyway and I have discovered a lot of fun new indie games thanks to him that I likely otherwise wouldn't have heard of.

It's easy to talk about subscribers like then when you have a huge number like he does. I value every single person that's sub'd to me, even if it just generated one view its one more then I had and it helps me out. Can't all be as lucky as him.

TB is obviously too vocal of those he doesn't like for his own good, but I really don't get why that makes him such a huge colossal asshole that every user and their mom has to go "TB is still an asshole though" indiscriminate of the actual video in every thread.

When you have a million subscribers, considering one of them just a number like a drop in a lake isn't terrible rude and is closer to the truth than most people like to admit. Saying it on Youtube comments themselves is just shortsighted though. You are making money because that one guy thought your content was good enough to support your channel directly with views, which indirectly (ostensibly) leads to more income for you to continue doing a job that most people would kill for. That's not to say that he should suck his subscribers dick, and I love his no-requests policy. I just think it'd be better to not go Stalin every time someone comments something annoying.

My point was more to do with the frustration of hearing someone go "meh" to a million subs when I'd give various limbs to get to that stage. It's kind of the same of hearing a a multi-millionaire tell you how much they don't care for money whilst your eating beans out of a shoe thats all. :)

With your millionaire comparison, it would be more like a multi-millionaire being celebrated for his money alone and not the important achievements, work, or contributions to society hes made to get there. As a smaller Youtuber that would love to be in his position I would still be more thankful of that milestone.

Got any examples of why he is "amazingly disgusting"? Or are just gonna keep spewing generalities? I for one can think of a dozen reason that he is quite an ok guy, for example when he raised 50,000$ for charity water, or the time he disabled monetization on his videos when talking about a topic he didn't find it suitable to take money for, or when he said(in the video above) that it feels good when he can help out indie devs trough promoting their games on his channel. Most smaller-medium sized internet personalities do have an adequate level of respect and gratitude for the people sticking with them, because without them, nobody would give a damn about what they have to say. With TB it seems more like he's primarily concerned with talking to suits and devs (and being pretty soft around them when), attending events, keeping content quantity up and very occasionally deleting sub-par content because he feels he's better than that. I can blame him for some of that, but some also strikes me as "fame corrupts" sorta deal. He's kind of unchallenged in what he does, because as much as I don't like the guy on a personal level (seems like a chill guy around his friends tho), it's pretty undeniable he's doing a fuckton of decent videos. He's always there for the big releases and many smaller ones, usually has a structured script before he starts repeating himself over and over again, relatively high-quality production values, and generally knows what he's talking about within the realms of a gaming enthusiast. But to me he's still the dick I hate being proven right in certain regards, because then he'll unleash a torrent of "Told you! Told you! I was right the whole time! You're all idiots!". Happened with the Dead Space thing for example.

Yeah. He doesn't make millions. Yogscast with their 14+ staff make millions, which they use to pay their staff salaries. Pewdiepie makes millions which he, I don't know. Keeps? I have no idea about how Pewdiepie works his channel other than record/upload. Does he employ anyone? He's certainly got the money to.

objectively, nobody can blame him for not enjoying the fanbase that make themselves known. I can't take two steps through youtube without tripping over comments that make me question humanity's future. And let's be honest here, he's the Cynical Brit, he has a very objective stance on a lot of things. He should definitely celebrate reaching 1m for sake of "wow thank you guys for making me who I am today", but I think it's still OK to be humble/unenthused about it being 'just a number'. after a certain point, it becomes less personal and impactful with each new subscription, and more just a tiny drop hitting the bathtub. You don't feel the difference, you don't hear it, you don't see it, it's just one contiguous blob.
