Argentina's foreign minister has turned down a Foreign Office invitation to meet members of the Falkland Islands government in London next week.
Hector Timerman rejected the offer, saying: "The international community does not recognise a third party in this dispute."
So basically Argentina despite how much they want the Falklands, wont talk to anyone about the Falklands.
I thought it's already been established they don't care at all about the current residents.
Wish they would stop acting like a stroppy teenager and get over it, they had their chance in the war.
Its because the whole recent interest in the falklands is all a farce to distract argentinians from the failing argentinian economy.

that and it was recently discovered that the Falklands had oil
Falklands status referendum in a month, it will be fun to see 99% vote to remain with Britain!
I'm argentinian and I think our argument is stupid.
The islands belong to the UK and our government should get over it.

We all know those votes are rigged, duh. Those Argentinians need to free their repressed brothers from the commonwealth tyranny!

Free repressed brother, Jose Fresco of Stanley, who says "Well I'd live here rather than there"

As far as I can tell this is pretty much the attitude of most Argentinians, it's only the government that really cares because it creates a nice distraction from their disastrous policies.
I do not belive it's about the island in the first place, but just as Cyprus about what's in the soil around it.
"Hey we were going to give it to you at this meeting, but since you didn't show up I guess we can't! Tough luck, guys! "
I'm not surprised English people still live on the Falklands, from what I remember in the nature documentaries about the place, it's pretty much 'English coastal countryside 2: Electric Boogaloo' there
With penguins.

This is exactly what's going on. We informed argies all know that the islands are legally UK property, but the gov't controls the masses by making it possible and fairly easy to live without studying or working (on the tax money of people who study and work) and by distracting them with soccer and the Falklands "issue", while the value of our currency is going down by the week, and we're locked away from current technology and other imports because of unbelievable taxes.
And they've been trying to change the constitution so the president can go for a third consecutive mandate.
Shit sucks.
I hope that after the meeting the British say
"Well Argentina, we WERE going to give you the Falklands at the meeting, but since you didnt come, well, TOUGH SHIT!"
