• AT&T blocking access to /b/
Reports are spreading that AT&T is now blocking 4chan.org’s «/b/»-section. Caption of 4chan.org Firing one of the first shots in the net neutrality war, AT&T has blocked 4chan’s /b/ image board. AT&T subscribers are unable to connect to /b/ and /r9k/ (both of which are hosted on img.4chan.org). However, subscribers can get on any of the so-called «worksafe» boards that 4chan.org offers. The problem seems to be present only for wired connections only (AT&T Mobility customers are not affected). The problem is not caused by an DNS-error, as traceroutes indicates that AT&T is dropping img.4chan.org requests in the AT&T network. Slashdot, Digg & Reddit are now running stories that are rapidly being upvoted about the topic. Remember that big thread about net neutrality about 2 or 3 years ago in GD? Well that process has begun and it'll only be a matter of time until they censor something you actually care about, luckily this is the first week and this can change.
And nothing of value was lost.

Considering all the stuff that people on /b/ have done, it's no surprise that AT&T did this.

like the faggots that visit /b/ doesnt know how to use a proxy..
And nothing of value was lost.
Which is why AT&T can then move on to other sites to block since no one cares.
Well it rarely works for me now, now it will never work.
Fucking hell, it's now okay for them to block websites at will.
/b/ will probably just migrate or find ways around it. I've never been there and never plan to. The (semi) funny stuff all gets screencapped and put elsewhere anyway. Why would I want to root through the dregs?
Fucking hell, it's now okay for them to block websites at will.
Its ok for them to block retarded websites.
Fucking hell, it's now okay for them to block websites at will.
It was ALWAYS okay for them to block websites at will. You're paying to use their service, but their service can be whatever they want it to be. If what you're paying is worth more to you than the value of the internet they provide, you stop paying for it. That's how private enterprise works.
Well, AT&T fucked with the wrong people, R.I.P., assholes. Also, get off the "lol 4chan is 4 fgts" bandwagon please, you can't honestly tell me 4chan has never made you laugh, or done something worthwhile for that matter.
Its not like Im sad about /b/ but I sense that a) lawsuits will ensue and b) whos to say that they will there?
What's so good about /b/ anyway?

It's not fucking censorship. It's called an ISP doing something sensible. EDIT: Dumb? Do you seriously want to be kicked around by a forum filled with 15 year-olds? I'm surprised they didn't block the whole site.
I have AT&T and /b/ is not loading for me. I never go to 4chan, but I'm pissed.
Chances are the other telecoms will follow suit too. They all have the same agendas. That makes the "Well, don't use at&t" argument a bit void... but we'll see.
It's not fucking censorship. It's called common sense for an ISP.
Yes it is fucking censorship.
This is censorship, plain and simple.

Some people only have one option for high speed internet; there needs to be more competition then assholes like AT&T might lose customers.
Wonder how all 14-16 year olds are going to persuade their parents to change ISP's..
I lol at you people who use memes, but hate on the place where they came from.
I lol at you people who use memes, but hate on the place where they came from.
Hypocrisy is the way of the world nowadays.
Hypocrisy is the way of the world nowadays.
It's over 9000!!!!! Fuck 4chan. /sarcasm
Well, I don't go to /b/, but still, blocking sites is stupid IMO.
The only thing I can say honestly is for you people who act like this is nothing to worry about, it's going to eventually fuck you over in some way or another? Do you know what the concept of net neutrality is? It's basically restructuring the entire internet itself by commercialization.
I hope anon brings AT&T to their fucking knees for this. Blocking access to 4chan is pretty much the best way to piss those people off.
