AMD telling Hardware Reviewers not to publish CPU benchmarks of its new Piledriver APUs

Some of an email from AMD to techreport:
The email goes on to highlight a few other features of the Socket FM2 platform before explaining what information may be published in early October:
The topics which you must be held for the October [redacted] embargo lift are:
- Overclocking
- Pricing
- Non game benchmarks
The email then highlights each of these topic areas briefly. Here's what it says about the temporarily verboten non-gaming benchmarks:
Non game benchmarks
- Traditional benchmarks are designed to highlight differences in different architectures and how they perform. We understand that this is a useful tool for you and that your readers expect to see this data. The importance of these results is in your evaluation, as the leading experts, of what these performance numbers mean. We encourage you to use your analysis if you choose to publish a preview article and if you find that to be appropriate to your approach to that article. The numbers themselves must be held until the October [redacted] embargo lift. This is in an effort to allow consumers to fully comprehend your analysis without prejudging based on graphs which do not necessarily represent the experiential difference and to help ensure you have sufficient content for the creation of a launch day article.

I know Intel hasn't been perfect, but this seems just wrong. Also, this must mean x86 performance on desktop piledriver is going to be crap.
It's gonna be shit if they resort to such things.
Also what's stopping the reviewers from doing a full review, and releasing the full benchmark anonymously??
"we dropped the ball on this one, so just dont tell anybody and let us make some money"

Because anyone who wants their site or company or whatever to keep getting new hardware to review isn't going to risk drawing attention to their reviewer who's done this anonymously and then needs to tweet it or whatever plus with it being anonymous AMD could just go oh it's a hoax obviously by ~Anonymous~ because they dislike our company so they're trying to get us shut down blah blah blah etc.
Shh don't tell anyone, but it's got more corrrressss

Apparently you and me have different definition on the whole anonymous thing.
My definition is that it'll be IMPOSSIBLE to track down the person.
NOT anonymous as in retards who DDoS every site they hate.

you know anonymous is not always synonymous with Anonymous
At least they make good GPUs, right?
Oh god who am I fucking kidding my 7970 can't even run Crysis on max.
I don't see much of a problem here, if I understand correctly they're just allowing sites to post limited reviews before the CPUs are officially released. Yeah they won't be very objective reviews since they are only going to show off the strengths of the new chips, but most people will just wait for the real reviews after they are released anyway.

Then you have a problem with your card, it should chew through it like nothing.
It used to be that AMD and Intel would go back and forth pretty evenly... Now it seems like Intel hit a magic spot and AMD just couldn't keep up.
You can't really expect AMD to outdo Intel, when they have considerably less money for RND.
So it'll be absolute shit? Gotcha, thanks AMD!

I find it funny how people get so pissed off and start acting like AMD is oppressing them because they don't have the same size RND budget.

I think its more the fact that AMD made some pretty poor decisions RE bulldozer etc.
It's easy to be an armchair spectator, but I can't think how releasing a processor with less single core perf was ever a good idea to begin with.
When bulldozer when to shit, they should have cut their losses and gone back and restarted off an older design, similarly when Intel put Netburst out of its misery and went back to PIII base for their next design.

Whoever put that site together is a moron, ATI does not exist anymore and the benchmarks don't even reflect anything close to that chart.
People don't understand, AMD does not have the RND budget Intel has. It won't be able to compete aswell as they can as far as CPU's goes. However they're doing a pretty good job with Nvidia.

My 6850 runs Crysis on max like a well-oiled machine. Something's wrong with your card.

Congratulations. You got trolled. It couldn't have been more obvious if the pictures were ringed with bright flashing neon letters saying TROLL, and the site played the trolololol song in the background. You still fell for it. You still are trying to come up with justifications nobody gives a shit about over what is looking like yet another failure from AMD.
For fucks sake man. Have a laugh. Live a little.

No.

I'd advise that you get off the internet since you seem unable to grasp the concept of humor.
Maybe I have a shit sense of humour, but I found it "wrong" instead of "ololol he pointed out something that was completely incorrect". Or maybe I take GPU's to seriously, either way meh.
I laughed really hard at this

I think it's kinda funny
It's a shame really, AMD need to be able to compete with Intel or they loose their main competitor in the desktop space.

Should base them on the design of their first Dualcore 64bit processors.
They were demons for their time.

Or a severe bottleneck, I get nothing lower than 60 fps with my 7970.

You mean the Athlons? Yeah those little fuckers overclocked nicely. They got an ass kicking from the Core 2 Duo though.
