Highland Park and Deerfield residents have deluged State Representative Scott Drury’s office with appeals to vote “no” on a school funding measure that would drastically cut the amount of state funds going to resource-rich districts. Concerned that Senate Bill 16 could be called for a vote in the Illinois House of Representatives after the Nov. 4 election, school superintendents have asked constituents to contact the lawmaker, even though Drury already has said he’ll vote “no” on the measure. North Shore District 112 schools’ chief Michael Bregy issued a “call to action” Sept. 30 asking district parents, staff and community members to contact Drury’s office and thank him for his continuing opposition to a bill. The measure would cut the district’s state funding by $2.6 million a year, according to most recent estimates. The letter was distributed by e-mail and posted to the district’s website, Facebook and Twitter pages. High School District 113 stands to lose $1.4 million a year by the end of the four-year, phase-in period. Superintendent George Fornero sent out a letter Oct. 1 asking constituents to contact Drury’s office and voice an opinion. The intense interest has prompted Drury to plan a forum on the measure to take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Deerfield High School, 1959 Waukegan Road, Deerfield. Details are being worked out. We don't need no stinkin' education.
what's with the USA wanting to cut funding to schools.?
Who the fuck even writes these piles of shit, cutting education budgets is the least defensible spending cut ever, it only is hurting everyone in the long run for short sighted very near term gains
what's with the USA wanting to cut funding to schools.?
Because we're stupid. We've gone full circle we don't have the education to fund schools to make us educated.
Maybe all of you should read the article and maybe try reading the bill for once in your lives. This is going to stop giving already privileged districts more funding than the downtrodden ones. Deerfield and Highland Park are both extremely rich towns and they are currently receiving more funding than shitty CPS schools. I don't see any problem with this.

[editline]9th October 2014[/editline] Honestly the whole system just needs more funding in general - But not by siphoning funds from proven districts.
