You know how for some reason people sometimes post threads asking admins to ban them, and they are usually (always?) permabanned? Well I've noticed that often people who reply get banned as well (usually not perma.) If the admins don't want people replying, why don't they just lock the thread? Just wondering.

Sounds like a ban me to me.
because the mods can't be on FP all the time constantly checking in one section for ban me threads. They lock them as soon as they can. If you come across a ban me thread just report it and move on.
They pretty much don't lock it to find a reason to ban idiots.
They cant lock all stupid threads at once, and they dont want people to post in them because it keeps them on the front page

That's because by replying to a troll/banme thread, you're giving them just what they want - attention. By replying you're supporting trolling and spam. Which is not liked.

And in the time it takes for a mod to see the ban-me we ask you not to give the creator the attention they crave.

Pretty sure he did it so he could keep their little Arma2 demo which was actually arma1 demo secret still, but who knows.
