You know how for some reason people sometimes post threads asking admins to ban them, and they are usually (always?) permabanned? Well I've noticed that often people who reply get banned as well (usually not perma.) If the admins don't want people replying, why don't they just lock the thread? Just wondering. Sounds like a ban me to me.
because the mods can't be on FP all the time constantly checking in one section for ban me threads. They lock them as soon as they can. If you come across a ban me thread just report it and move on.
They pretty much don't lock it to find a reason to ban idiots.
They cant lock all stupid threads at once, and they dont want people to post in them because it keeps them on the front page
For bumping shit threads [editline]07:37PM[/editline] oh shittt im gonna get banned
OH no guys, he rated me dumb.
dats caus yo are dum
i raised the same question once... FP killed me. why is no one killing this man?
That's because by replying to a troll/banme thread, you're giving them just what they want - attention. By replying you're supporting trolling and spam. Which is not liked.
mods ban for w.e without thinking clearly.
They pretty much don't lock it to find a reason to ban idiots.
That isn't true. Unless it's a Hezzy idiot cull. And we can't immediately lock threads as soon as they are created. For example, i've only just seen this thread.
mods ban for w.e without thinking clearly.
All bans are thought through before action is taken. Don't blame the mods if you do something wrong.

And in the time it takes for a mod to see the ban-me we ask you not to give the creator the attention they crave.
They cant lock all stupid threads at once, and they dont want people to post in them because it keeps them on the front page
The official reason is that people make ban-me threads for attention, and we want to keep people from replying to those threads and thusly encouraging people to make more. But obviously that doesn't really work. The real reason is we just enjoy banning people.
All bans are thought through before action is taken.
this is true, except for rayvenq. [editline]08:46PM[/editline] true story: rayvenq banned someone because they had a utorrent icon in their taskbar.
I think it was later proven the guy was distributing warez.
so? unless he was bragging about being a pro warezmaster, i don't see what the big deal is.
Just want to point out, OP, that you post in threads, not on them. :v:
I think it was later proven the guy was distributing warez.
Pretty sure he did it so he could keep their little Arma2 demo which was actually arma1 demo secret still, but who knows.
Yeah, the guy wasn't proven to be distributing warez, I was actually there. RayvenQ just did it to keep a mass troll going.
The question has been answered and there's no reason to leave this open any longer.
