(CNN) -- He's an 82-year-old "redneck hillbilly from west North Carolina" who's been scratching an itch to go fast his whole life. Finally, after decades of racing high-performance speed boats and winning world-class endurance car competitions, Preston Henn got his hands on the fastest executive jet on the planet: the G650. CNN caught up with Henn by cell phone between practice laps at Daytona International Speedway. "As long as the cars here don't crank up, we can talk!" he said. From then on, Henn -- Florida's flea market kingpin -- sounded like a giddy schoolboy as he told his story about how he put down a $1 million deposit in April 2012 to become the first person to buy a Gulfstream G650 -- "the hottest airplane out there" --- with its distinctive, sweeping, curving wings and its roomy, swanky interior. It made him "feel like a million dollars," he said gleefully. For a plane that costs $65 million, feeling like $1 million might seem like a disappointment. But you get the picture. The jet's top speed: 704 mph -- nearly the speed of sound -- makes it arguably the world's fastest civilian aircraft. "I was just amazed at how quick it took off," says Henn. "And then it just went ZOOM -- straight up. I just sat back and drank a glass of wine and enjoyed it."
TBH, if an airplane is going straight up you might find it difficult to drink wine. But whatever. It really does get on my nerves when some people have that much money to spare and instead of using it to fuel society they do this shit.
It really does get on my nerves when some people have that much money to spare and instead of using it to fuel society they do this shit.
lol fuck that if I were rich I would do the exact same thing and more.
I've never understood how rednecks support their lifestyles They enjoy such expensive hobbies, like off roading, boating, hunting, drinking, and none of those are cheap at all. Where do they get the finances?
lol fuck that if I were rich I would do the exact same thing and more.
Not saying I wouldn't and not blaming the guy for doing it. Just saying there's a flaw when people have that much money to spare. But let's not get off-topic. I'd have fun too, if I were rich.
Aren't they like gypsies in the UK, not paying the majority of taxes?
I don't know honestly. But I live in Arizona by a lot of them, and they are always shooting shit in the desert (old appliances, cars, children's toys, whatever can be shot really), but I haven't ever seen any of them in the work force. I am not trying to stereotype them as poor, but when you live in the middle of nowhere how do you have a job that allows you to do all of these things
I don't hink putting it into ""s makes redneck hillbilly from west North Carolina a tolerable thing to write in a news article.

Where do they get the finances?
those arent expensive, except for boating which practocally none of them do. and a lot of rednecks arent poor its moreof a lifestyle than anything
Shit like this is why the league of shadows kills people. Fucking decadence.
lol fuck that if I were rich I would do the exact same thing and more.
If I were rich I would rather learn how to fly that thing. Or even better buy and learn how to fly a fighter jet and then go smash some windows at my neighbors house when going supersonic.
It really does get on my nerves when some people have that much money to spare and instead of using it to fuel society they do this shit.
Rich spending money is a good thing for the economy, that puts it back into circulation. The rich who hoard their money are what end up hurting the economy.
Rich spending money is a good thing for the economy, that puts it back into circulation. The rich who hoard their money are what end up hurting the economy.
I know. This guy is hardly the worst out there and a bad example of a "rich fat cat." Still, it isn't really the people that are the problem. It's the circumstances and laws and society in general that dictates the people. But that is for Mass Debate, this is SH. My opinion on this guy is, well, good for him. Money could've been spent better, but I can't really blame HIM, but I can blame the fact that you're able to acquire that much money from sporting jobs.
lol fuck that if I were rich I would do the exact same thing and more.
Buy the ultimate gaming PC ever, 3 of the best graphics cards inside it just so you can have 3 or 6 monitors "Just because". Insane desk to go with it. buy 10000 MRES, donate 99% of them to charity. Keep the rest. Every room in my house will have a different theme style.

I was always wondering - could you possibly anyhow get a license to fly something like old army jet stripped of weapons? Like some old mig or so.

I'd buy Facepunch, ban Garry for a week and then resell it to him for less money.
I was always wondering - could you possibly anyhow get a license to fly something like old army jet stripped of weapons? Like some old mig or so.
You can get a license to fly anything. Fairly easy to get old WWII era fighters or even older era fighter jets. Though to get newer things you have to go through hoops with the government. Possible though. there's some french guy that has one of the largest private fighter jet collections in the world. Last I heard his dream was getting his hands on an F-14. Though that'd be hard since I think they destroyed most if not all of them to avoid getting them in the hands of the Iranians. Paul Allen owns a Mig-29: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/18/paul-allen-mig-29-russian-fighter-jet_n_837525.html
It really does get on my nerves when some people have that much money to spare and instead of using it to fuel society they do this shit.
You do realize that buying that plane he's put the money back into the economy right? It's better than it sitting in a bank doing nothing.
You do realize that buying that plane he's put the money back into the economy right? It's better than it sitting in a bank doing nothing.
10 posts above you
You do realize that buying that plane he's put the money back into the economy right? It's better than it sitting in a bank doing nothing.
even if it was just "sitting in the bank", the money would still be going into the economy.
even if it was just "sitting in the bank", the money would still be going into the economy.
I think there's quite a bit wrong with people hoarding millions/billions of dollars into banks and offshore accounts, but whatever. Even if it goes back into the economy, it's wasteful for someone of extremely high capital to act like he has no societal obligation with the huge chunk of the economic capital he holds. Power/Money/Responsibility.
lol fuck that if I were rich I would do the exact same thing and more.
I would make a throne of gold and hire poor people to watch me bathe in money. I'm such an asshole.
