[quote]Iceland's Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson has asked the President to dissolve Parliament and call for new elections if he does not receive the backing of coalition partner the Independence Party to remain in office following the Panama Papers leak.
But President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, who cut short a visit to the US to return to Reykjavik earlier on Tuesday to deal with the Panama Papers crisis, told a televised press conference he wanted to consult the Government's junior coalition member before making a decision.
Mr Grimsson said a meeting with the Premier "resulted in me refusing to sign a declaration to dissolve Parliament nor make any promises to the Prime Minister that I would agree to that before I knew and had conversations with leaders of other parties about their stand."
Refusing a request to dissolve Parliament was unprecedented in Iceland, political observers said.

Essentially holding the parliament hostage.
Haha dream on, I hope your political career gets completely shredded, or even if by some gymnastics you happen to remain in office, that you'll never be able to remove the odium arising from these revelations.
