Huh, didn't mention 2 perf at all.
It's crazy how an aspect ratio can make a film look cinematic. You can take pretty much any video, throw a 2.35 aspect ratio on it, and bam, it feels more cinematic. If it's shot in 24/23.97 fps that is.
I think a lot of people don't realize why wide screen is so aesthetically pleasing.
If you hold your arms out in front of you and spread your hands to the left and right, then do it up and down, you will notice that your peripheral vision is in fact wider than it is tall.
Since we see everything in wide screen all the time, it's only natural that it would be more visually appealing.

Well gee, that might have to do with our eyes being horizontal instead of vertical.
As a guy who works on a lot of video, I fucking hate when people film vertical videos with their phones, and I hate the programmers that made it possible even more.
