Can Windows Powershell be used as a replacement for CMD?

I like it cause it's more aesthetically appealing, is it possible to use it instead for everything CMD can do?
Unless there's something big that I'm missing, yes.
What makes it aesthetically pleasing? Because if it's the colors I'm pretty sure that the colors on the cmd prompt are 100% customizable.
It works as a replacement, though in my experience the interpreter is a lot slower at starting up than the traditional command prompt.
I tried to use mklink (the symbolic link CMD utility) and it said it wasn't a valid CMDlet
So I guess they changed the commands?

Powershell is a complete overhaul, and not just CMD after a visit to the beauty salon.
If it wasn't slow as shit to boot it'd be nice as a replacement, but it's annoying to wait 5 seconds just for a ping. But yes it can pretty much replace it as far as I'm concerned.

This is nothing to do with Windows 8. Powershell has been around since the XP era, just not bundled until (Vista?) 7.

Just use process hacker's task manager replacement feature

You know you are dealing with good os when you have to replace core programs for it to work.
Well it works fine for me and I'm assuming the large majority of other people so yeah...
Powershell takes about 2 seconds to load on cold boot for me.
both poweshell and task manager open instantly for me
