• 400 USD Budget Upgrade/Rebuild

My current desktop's lifetime has come and gone some time ago, and I really have no choice but to rebuild the thing. I have never chosen the parts for a new rig before and never built one outside of a classroom, so I'm pretty wary with my parts. I'm under a pretty tight budget, which is fine considering I don't play games quite that often. (But I'm tired of not being able to play them when I do) My planned budget is anything below 450-475 USD. So here it is at current: Case: GIGABYTE gz-ph2a3 Mobo: BIOSTAR A770E3 CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition GPU: SAPPHIRE 100284L Radeon HD 5750 RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 (x2) The HDD and ODD will be reused from my current rig. My PSU is 440 watts and I will reuse it also, if it's powerful enough. According to Newegg's wattage calculator, it is. But should I have failed to take something into consideration, tell me.
What is your PSU's brand/model? That is usually more important than the wattage. Anyway, I would get an Athlon Quad/Tri and a 4870. I'll post a build soon. The PSU I have at current is a HIPRO HP-D4302RWB2 430W ATX12V. The graphics card is a good idea, and I like the case. I figured that I'd try core unlocking. If that proves unstable as people say it does, fine. I'll consider revising the build with a new CPU if I can iron out the budget elsewhere.
Nah, don't risk it. If you had less money sure, I would be more neutral with your decision. It's up to you however. So do you have an operating system?
Yeah, I do have an OS. And seeing how I might have more money than I thought I would, I'll do a processor upgrade. How about the PSU? Is it sufficient, or should I replace it?
If you are upgrading the CPU I would get a better motherboard also since it can only support up to 95 watt CPUs. Look into the 955, which is 125 watts.
