Teens and mums might not be pleased by the news, as EA has announced plans to shut down The Sims Social, Simcity Social and Pet Society.
People not playing EA's Facebook games seems legit, because EA tried rushing it out so they could quickly profit from the in-game features that had to be bought with real money.
Not surprising, in order to quickly progress through any one of those games at the game's intended speed, you always have to fork out for ingame currency. Otherwise wait like 24 hours to "refresh" the game.
Really though, I only played Sims Social because this hot girl in class kept bugging me to play it with her. Beta 4 lyfe yo
Pet Society? Oh god that was the game all my friends played in 2009

Unfortunately you're not alone lol
I never saw how they expected these to get popular in the first place. Seems like another "nag friends to play until they stop talking to you forever" kind of thing.
Not really a great loss
About time SimCity Social gets shut down, gimmicky money grab. I'm amazed anyone played it in the first place.
Though I find it amazing that there was a "lack of players" on Sims Social. I get spammed with requests all the time from it.
Holy crap is EA LLLEEAARRRIIINNNGGG!!!
But really no one gives a fuck these games were shit when they came out; only made to get some quick cash from idiots then shutdown. Tis the cycle of shitty pay to play games.
I think I've brought this up before, but I swear not a few months ago they said that Social Game/their aspects were the future of gaming.
Oh man do you remember when a bunch of years ago we played pet society and soaped each other's ass? Good times.

I'm disturbed, yet curious.
Good, those games were just EA's shitty, half-assed attempt at getting in on the Facebook/Zynga cash cow.
They weren't THAT bad. Not nearly as bad as other social games such as farmville. You could play them with 1-2 friends and didn't need to spam everyone's wall whenever you built something.
But still, after a YEAR? And all the currency just straight up vanishes?
I can smell a lawsuit coming up.

That's what they say about everything :v:
