The coalition government has won the vote to raise tuition fees in England to up to £9,000 per year - amid violent protests in Westminster.
In angry scenes, protesters are battling with police and attacking buildings, including the Treasury and the Supreme Court.
A vehicle containing Prince Charles and Camilla was attacked as they travelled to an engagement. Both are unharmed.
Police say eight officers were hurt in clashes. They have made nine arrests.
Three ministerial aides have resigned over the issue, but the fees rise passed with a 21-vote majority.
Riot police have been forcing back protesters who were smashing windows and trying to break into a side door of the Treasury. Protesters also smashed windows at the Supreme Court.
Earlier protesters had forced their way into Parliament Square and pressed against lines of police in front of the Houses of Parliament.
This makes me laugh.
Surely the 2 parties know next election they wont get a single vote seeing as the people this affects are the next generation of voters.
They just voted upon, and passed the raising of the basic rate (3k to 6k) with the same majority.
inevitable
i enjoyed listening to paddy ashdown's calm manor in a storm of phenomenal stupidity

I miss Gordon.

He was kind of crap but not "fuck everybody poor, I'm in power now" crap. :sigh:
Looks like I won't be going to University. :sigh: There goes the rest of my education.

Labour introduced tuition fees and raised the cap again. the browne review was commissioned by the labour party who probably would have raised fees again if they were in power.
either way this was inevitable whoever had won the previous election

Go smash a police van. I'm sure that will help things :v:

Lib Dems will surely lose many times more votes then the Tories.

There's other methods, around the August the BBC news site was carrying a story about how many people in the UK are heading to places like the Netherlands where its cheaper (and apparently usually taught in english).
Snip
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Lib Dems and Tories are heading for violent rape in 2015.
not from the uk...
what problems does this give in the long run?
Can't wait til the right to recall gets put in motion. Although it was promised by the lib dems so I don't think that's going to happen...
London is going to burn tonight.
Meaning everybody who protest voted for the Lib Dems goes back to Labour, Labour voters stay Labour and the exact same number vote for Tories.
Just a few more years

20...15?
Shouldn't it be 2014.
Hopefully Cameron will get caught having gay sex or something so we can act all "Oh no not GAY" and call another general election.
Urge to riot... Rising...

It widens the class divide by a shitload.

:geno:
Well the conservatives would probably do that but it would just mean another one of their parties landed gentry types took power until the next election.

A general election has to be called at most once every 5 years.
While rioting is never a good thing, I have to feel sorry for the students in this case, they've had the welcome mat pulled out from their feet and replaced with a vat of acid.
People power I suppose
Well, that's me fucked.
I'm still voting Lib Dems, because I blame David Cameron for pressuring Nick Clegg about this.
ie. "If you don't vote with us on this, we'll vote against you on everything else".
Toryfags, please get out of Westminster.

Sadly, my family and I right now wouldn't have enough for me to study abroad, and the thing is, I wanted to go into British Politics and general Politics, the best place to learn about the British Political system is probably a British University. Well, I'm going to keep on looking for a way to go to a Uni, but right now things seem pretty hopeless for me :sigh:
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!
i was at the riots, it was huge
what have they done!
Jesus fucking christ this is horrific.
