(no, after 0:45 she never goes back to English. You can skip to 5:37 though to see the shitload of letters she's received)
Shot Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai has described how a fund has been set up in her name to help all children get an education.
Malala, 15, was speaking in an interview recorded before surgery at a Birmingham hospital on Saturday.
She was shot on a school bus in October in Pakistan by the Taliban after campaigning for girls' rights.
Holy shit she speaks great English, what a fantastic person
Well, she definitely didn't walk away from it without brain damage, unfortunately.
That being said, what an incredible person to be able to walk away from something like that without the bitterness and hatred for humanity that one tends to develop in these situations.

Why do you say that?
at first i had the standard athiest kneejerk reaction of "praying didn't do shit, getting brought into one of the best medical systems is what helped you" before realizing that it's a very strategic move to make herself a faux miracle so that it seems like god wanted her to live and to go to school, hopefully changing the attitudes in the region

Or, you know, maybe she really is religious, and her faith helps her cope with her troubles. Would you deny her that?
Why do you say that?
Watch her face carefully.
Why do you say that?
looks like the left side of her face is partially paralyzed, could be brain damage, or just nerve damage though
Why do you say that?
Basically what everyone else has been saying. Gabriel Giffords was actually similar in this regard for awhile, but with physical therapy and the incredible power of plasticity, she recovered.
I'm sure that, in time, she may recover as well. We've reached the point in technology where being shot in the head isn't necessarily an entirely lethal situation anymore.
looks like the left side of her face is partially paralyzed, could be brain damage, or just nerve damage though
Or physical damage from a bullet to the head? It may have actually damaged her mouth, but I don't know where it hit her.
Or, you know, maybe she really is religious, and her faith helps her cope with her troubles. Would you deny her that?
i'm sure she really is religious; note why i said "knee jerk." it's a sort of an instinctual reaction
and i'm just thinking of it from a strategic standpoint, it's very effective. by citing the medical system that saved her she'd simply be fueling anti-western ideology that would view it as the west trying to push their values on the east/south
looks like the left side of her face is partially paralyzed, could be brain damage, or just nerve damage though
Aye. Looks like damage to the motor cortex on the right hemisphere. She doesn't seem to have any difficult moving other parts on her left side, so it shouldn't affect her too much. Although from here I can't tell if there is any damage to the somatosensory cortex, so the injury could move further either anteriorly or posteriorly.

People with your attitude piss me off to no end. If someone wants to believe praying helped them, it isn't your place to say it didn't. For all you know, it could very well have.

Right eye winks and sometimes her left eye will look one direction while her right eye doesn't too, poor girl. But it looks like she's doing extremely well.

Shut the fuck up we don't need your shit go away.
I thought she was shot through the eye (fake eye)?

There is no strategic standpoint here though, this is just a fifteen year old girl who's thankful she survived a shooting, and prayed because of it. There is nothing wrong with that at all and she is definitely not trying to turn this into any political affair.

When you were born did the doctor diagnose you with a serious case of BrickInHead?
Or did that come later?
Did your mum beat you with a brick when you were bad or something?

No atheist circle jerk here, sorry.

im really glad she pulled through, she's fucking brave as hell to stand up against these barbaric dickheads.

It's one of the posts where it's dragging unnecessary bullshit to the table and it seems inflammatory and just being a jerk. He acts like her religion is just a façade to get more people to get angry about things. It's not fair.

Yes I did, however it's clear that you probably didn't.

Even if the second part is justifiable, what is the point of saying this? All it makes him seem is double insensitive and brings up a completely new religious argument which isn't warranted.

eh, not everyone is automatically religionized by her saying that, they know what happened, they know she got top notch medical service, they know she could've died but that didn't happen, and no person saying "praise god for saving me" is going to redirection that many religious compasses.
and even then she has a belief or account of what she thinks happened, and wanted to express it. that's not really clever or a façading attempt, it's what she truly believes, most likely.
