You could get by fine on 450W. Is there a reason you originally had an 850W PSU?
The manufacturing date doesn't mean shit, you have to show them the receipt of purchase, because it's that date that the warranty goes active. Not the manufacturing date, the guy who e-mailed you is either a moron, trying to scam you, or both.

I'm pretty sure warranty doesn't apply for power surges. You'd just have it rejected. Just visually inspect it to see if there's a visible problem. Could be just a blown capacitor or a built-in fuse.
i did - useda tester and its shorted out not even the fan turns on its a brick now they said they would rma if it was under warnndy but its not in any case i dont think i would trust myself to fix a PSU if that is were your going with this

More expensive, but it is an 80 plus like you asked for. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004
Wow I feel like an idiot. Usually I filter for 80+. This one is cheaper yet.
450 would do, and tidy up on your grammar.
450 would do, and tidy up on your grammar.
Let alone spelling.
Speak English please.
So you all jump on the bandwagon because one person pointed out his grammar? I have no problems reading what he types, I don't understand the level of some people's grammar nazi-ism anymore. I can understand some things being pointed out to be corrected but how OP types is not a problem to me.
I'm running an AMD X3 95w CPU and ATI 5450 videocard off a 430W/28A PSU(Corsair CX430). It works fine. My card draws 19W at full load, your 2600Pro is rated at 30W full load. So assuming you aren't planning to drop in a higher end videocard(one that requires 6 pin power), you should be fine with 400W-450W. Just make sure the 12v output is in the 28A-32A range, that's the important bit. At full load you're probably only drawing in the 180W range, which means you'll be at around 50% PSU load most of the time, that's perfect.
Why the hell did i have a 850 W psu o.o im geting a 500 w to be safe for any upgrades i might get
For future reference Warranties usually only cover manufacturers defects, getting destroyed by a power surge is your fault. You should invest in a better surge protector as well.
Buy a surge protector. Other parts in your PC could also have been damaged by the surge.
Oh i do i have a nice one. I never plug things into JUST a wall [editline]9th December 2010[/editline] Anyway i can see if the other stuff is damaged tho?

If it shows signs of physical damage (damaged capacitors, etc) you could look for those but any non-visible damage will become apparent when you boot with your new PSU if it exists. If anything else is damaged and if you were using your surge protector and if it was a surge that damaged your computer, you may be able to actually make use of whatever guarantee the mfg of your surge protector made.

We need smartness back. And Badal is right, the warranty only covers if the PSU had killed itself, it doesn't cover this case as it wasn't OCZ's fault it broke down.
Sorry,I'll try to be better at typing.
If you dont want that shit to happen again buy an UPS
