Damn right. I know I could have gotten Half-Life Ep1, and Ep2 by... other means, but I didn't. I bought them, because Valve is awesome, and so are their games.
Why would you not make good games? Valve are, as usual, correct.
Why would you not make good games? Valve are, as usual, correct.
Cause they don't know what a good game is.
Well, I always think twice about a game before I buy it. I play the games at a friend and read some reviews. That way I ensure I just buy the good games, and the bad games shall not recieve any money from me. But I have to say, I never felt bad about buying a game from Valve!
State the obvious some more DOug.
I myself downloaded HL2 and EP1 like 3 years ago but I liked the games a lot and I bought Orange Box. (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - Dragon))
This is true. Not once have I EVER thought of pirating a Valve game. It's never crossed my mind. However, this is not the case with other developers.

I downloaded EP1 when it was released, and then a few months ago I got The Orange Box legitimately. But I don't think this is necessarily the full case. The only time I'll ever consider pirating a game is if I really, really, really want it but have zilch cash to get it. I downloaded Episode 1 once. Then later that year I got it from the Orange Box. (User was banned for this post ("Do not discuss or hint at warez" - Rusty100))
I respect valve and bungie, I would never pirate one of their games. On the other hand, I've used up all of my spore activations... :pervert:
Only games i bought are Valve's TF2, OB the rest i warez'd (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - RayvenQ))
When Valve states the obvious, it makes them look cooler.
the secret to combating piracy is to make good games
No shit?!
Always bought a Valve game, even if I had to wait. I hated it and wanted to pirate, but I couldn't.

Fallout 3. Crysis. Call of Duty 4.
Valve and Crytek are my two favourite developers, they both push the boat out for new developments and ways of delivering that content to the user at minimum hassle.
Why would you not make good games?
Because you can make games that sell well instead. Ea for example, doesn't have to make good games to get big sales.
That, and using Steam is better. More than I can say from the rest of the digital distribuition platforms.
No shit?!
It's not as obvious that you might think.
I agree. Contrarily to most anti-piracy measures recently, Valve makes it EASIER for players who bought the actual game instead of warezing. No activation limit, a ridiculously high amount of quality servers available (that's not entirely Valve's work, though) and VAC makes it worth the money.
Valve got it right, I pirated half-life 2 next thing I knew I went out and bought the Game of the Year Edition. The mod support and the fact I know that Valve games are going to be high quality is what makes me buy all there games. That's what a lot of other can't seem to get is if you make a good enough game people will buy it. Not do what Ubisoft does and release a bunch of shitty games that are bland and boring, EA is in the middle some of there games are good and worth a buy.
This is true. Not once have I EVER thought of pirating a Valve game. It's never crossed my mind. However, this is not the case with other developers.
This. Valve actually is worth it.
This is true. Not once have I EVER thought of pirating a Valve game. It's never crossed my mind. However, this is not the case with other developers.
This exactly.
I've never actually downloaded a game I don't own legally. I just recently downloaded a copy of Postal 2, but I legally bought it from them years ago, I just lost my disk and wanted to play it. (This is legal by U.S. Copyright law.) I considered doing it with the PC version of Godfather 2, but about halfway through, I just said "To hell with it." and went and picked up a copy for the 360 at Gamestop. I think the only case would be something that you can't get in stores and there is pretty much no one that sells it online anymore. Those I think are understandable because there is no legal means to get it anymore. I haven't actually downloaded any Valve games though except for through Steam. I have too much respect for the company, even if I may not like all their decisions.
I only bought HL2,EP1,EP2,CSS,TF2,GMOD, but I torre- oh wait heh
I also bought M&B because it was a good game! =D (but for like $8 on steam sale lol)
Valve :jerkbag: here
