Hello guys, I recreated SoaD's song Roulette in Fruity Loops Studio. Please tell me what you think should be changed or could be done better. Constructive criticism welcome.
Doesn't sound good on piano, those dischords(are they called that?) sound weird and awful. Might be because the echo/reverb is too high/powerful. Edit: Just listened to the song, and though it does sound weird too on the guitar, it doesn't sound as awkward as on piano(your version) Try some other instruments, experiment with the sound :)
too much verb and delay [editline]04:32PM[/editline] or sustain I really can't tell it's that muddy
Ghmm, well I personally noticed that when the chorus starts, the notes kinda turn flat, like without any echo/delay... don't know why. Well, thanks for the replies, I'll be modifying it :)
Well I just went to my keyboard to see if it is just the piano itself.... but it sounds great on an actual keyboard. What ruins it is all the reverb and delay... get rid of it.. (edit: this doesn't mean use basic notes only, I use a sustain pedal, it sounds bad without sustain... just get rid of the reverb and most of the delay.) And when you go to play the vocals, don't play the tones exactly as without words it's just repetitive sounds that get very annoying, especially in the tone you used. try expanding it into chords that you don't have to hit repeatedly. make it pretty and appealing using what the piano have to offer.
