Sup facepunchers I have a dream - to become an English teacher in Asia. I'm thinking China. I can actually go now and teach right away, but I feel like I want to learn more (my native language isn't English). I'm 18, unemployed and put my career on a break. I have not finished high school, so this is where yous come in (I'm from Denmark). I want to join a high school in England. The reason for this is: 1) In Denmark, I need to learn German (to join high/secondary school). Do you need to know German to join high school in England? 2) It will vastly improve my English far more than a Danish-English teacher can. 3) My English is better than my Danish :frown: 4) I think I'd like fish n chips Another question. If I finish high school, will I have a degree? Because I got told that having a degree with help me a lot. Any degree. A bachelors degree will definitely make is easier for me to find a job. But what is a bachelors degree? How long does it take? I dislike school (ironic since I want to be a teacher huh), so I'm only willing to spend max 3 years in school in UK/obtaining a degree (bachelors or otherwise) Thanks bros
Europeans get degrees from high school? why the fuck am I still in the us god damn
Shouldn't you learn Chinese as well then?
lol u fail at life, no way ur gonna be a teacher. college equals degree, not hs. hs is nothing.
1) In Denmark, I need to learn German (to join high/secondary school)
:psyduck:
Shouldn't you learn Chinese as well then?
Yeah, but I can learn Chinese while in China.
lol u fail at life, no way ur gonna be a teacher. college equals degree, not hs. hs is nothing.
Thanks for insult. Tell me more about college, please.
Yeah, but I can learn Chinese while in China. Thanks for insult. Tell me more about college, please.
Chinese is hard mate. Really fucking hard.
If you want to know about college, talk to your high school counselors. They're there for a reason.
Chinese is hard mate. Really fucking hard.
Yep. I know. Gonna be a bitch. But its ok, I don't need to learn 100% Chinese to teach. Many teachers in China teach in English improvise
If you want to know about college, talk to your high school counselors. They're there for a reason.
I have more questions that just "durr what is college". If I asked her about the UK education system she would go blank. Besides I already talked to her about this whole Teacher Abroad thing. She didn't know much. She told me I could chose to be a public teacher (elementary, high school, etc), but it would take me 4 years + I need to learn German. I rejected her offer, but thanked her. Really don't want to spend another 4 years in school. Maybe because its boring for me..hmm.
You should at least take basic Chinese classes at college so you can have some understanding.
why would you need to know german to join a school in england
You should at least take basic Chinese classes at college so you can have some understanding.
Thanks but thats not reallt my priority now at all since what matters to me right now is atleast, you know, being able to show that I went to an English school (highschool), obtain a degree and then from there, I can either learn some Chinese or just right into it. Man, it just worries me..I don't want to spend years upon years obtaining that degree. Does anyone know how long high school last? If you need German? If you need to be UK citizin? What is a bachlors degree? I tried wiki'ing it, but it yieled little knowledge
why would you need to know german to join a school in england
Because knowing German or French is a requirement to join high school in Denmark
I have a dream - to become an Engligh teacher in Asia. I'm thinking China.
Don't worry, it's already clear you are very skilled in Engligh.
of course you need to be a citizen in order to apply to school.
uh oh..This means I can't join English school if I'm not a English citizen? Because I was pretty sure that since both England and Denmark is in the EU, we can cross-educate, if thats..the right word. Not sure of it. Hope you understand. Basically I can study in UK without problems, provided I meet the requirements for school
so this is where yous come in
It is spelt "you". Never put a plural on the end of "you" ever. Lots of bogan kids nearby where I live walk around saying "yous" and it pisses me off. Just some food for though if you want to become an English Teacher.
you can probably apply to become an exchange student, but you should talk to your school board or something.
Well the school advisor-counselor-hey-get-a-job woman at the municipality couldn't help. Ach. Ah well. I'll figure it out. Thanks for the input yeah
Because knowing German or French is a requirement to join high school in Denmark
Well that's bullshit.
If I finish high school, will I have a degree?
No. Well I won't. Nobody else I know will. So no.
I dislike school (ironic since I want to be a teacher huh), so I'm only willing to spend max 3 years in school in UK/obtaining a degree (bachelors or otherwise)
Depends on your age You're probably after University or college.
In Czech Republic, you need to finish a high school, then study an university to get a degree, and then you can teach.
4) I think I'd like fish n chips
You're in.
Europeans get degrees from high school? why the fuck am I still in the us god damn
The school system varies from country to country. Like here in Finland, the amount of studying the law requires is 9 years, but it's suggested you to study for 12 years so you get atleast some papers to help with job finding. But most people do 15 years to specialize even more. I'm studying in the IT field and in the end, I will have done 15 years.

You need higher qualifications in English to join university. If you stayed at school till you were 18 you will have the correct qualifications. I think you study for 4 years to get a degree, although check that as I may be wrong. A friend and my gran have both taught English in China and they do not have degrees in English.
English 101: Even though black people use the N word to say hello, you don't. Unless you want to be beat down by 20 of them. Then, in that case, go right ahead.
In england high schools, like the one i went to you had to learn french and german..
Why the fuck would you want to go to china? Censored internet, high population / area ratio... To get a degree in the UK the qualifications cost £3225 a year for 3 years, I'm also paying about £4000 a year on accomodation, food and other expenses, so over the 3 years I build up £20k of debt, but in england we have student loans. It's complex shit and unless you have great qualifications in whatever you last did in Denmark you won't be able to get into a good university, and I have no idea how the loans work for foreign students, especially if they then move to China afterwards... Denmark is nice... I have no idea why you would want this...
oi, yeah, I agree with jallen up there. Yea, mate, you don't wanna go to China. Go somewhere you can actually help, bro. Try Haiti.
Well that's bullshit.
So it's finally a good thing, that I'm German. :hitler:
