So, my RAM is pretty shit. I'm getting new RAM. I'm also getting a new motherboard for overclocking. Here's what I've got: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5617656/Screenshots/ramwut.png RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135237 Mobo Here's what I'm upgrading to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141064 RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128357 Mobo I'm trying to save as much money as I can, because I'm going to be buying a car in about a week. So, Facepunch, I'm just running this by you before I buy it, just to make sure there's no better sales somewhere or something. Thanks in advance.
looks more like a replacement rather than an upgrade. its the same exact stuff
The new motherboard can overclock, my current one cannot. The new RAM is 800, old is 333.
Do you have a budget, you may be able to up your ram a little.
Like I said, I don't want to spend a lot, what with me getting a car in about a week. Under $100.
Well considering the ram is sold out, here give me a sec.
Ah, dammit. [editline]10:18PM[/editline] Haha, I was worried about that before, too.
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130280&cm_re=775_micro_atx-_-13-130-280-_-Product RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145252&cm_re=ddr3_2gb-_-20-145-252-_-Product I went 10$ over if you don't mind. (If you want to go up a little more) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144425&cm_re=ddr3_2gb-_-20-144-425-_-Product
A couple notes: It doesn't need to be MicroATX, I really don't want to go over budget, $100 was pushing it as was, too. And on top of it all, nothing else my computer has is top of the line: E5400 2.7 GHz dual ATI Radeon HD 4670 So, yeah. Is the boost that big on the RAM that it's worth it, though?
It should assist in OCing, if you push your budget up by 300ish you can get very good parts.
No way in hell I'd be willing to spend $400 on a motherboard and RAM.
My motherboard was 430+ish alone. Plus ram its even more, what about 250?
I don't need anything top-of-the-line. Hell, as of now I can just about max out anything. Definitely not going over $100. Gotta get a car, as I said.

You are better of saving up and getting a motherboard and processor on socket 1156, socket 775 died a long time ago (Note that 1156 uses DDR3). [editline]09:46AM[/editline] Also, your RAM isn't 333MHz, its 667, DDR = Dual Data Rate which means you need to double the value you read.
Thread over ordered RAM fuck the motherboard I can live with that proc.
wait which ram, i hope you didn't order ddr3 for ddr2
No. I'm not dumb. [editline]09:25PM[/editline] At least, not that dumb. :ninja:
yeah you're pretty dumb for buying essentially the same exact RAM
Seriously don't, you need a new graphics card more. Get a 4850. This is just stupid. And Axiom, it's really the fewest who's spending 430+ on a mobo alone, this guy obviously dooesn't have that kind of money. It's stupid or just brag, when mentioning something like that.

I'm maxing out almost every game I play (not ports, but hey, most of them are bad so I don't play them anyway), with the only lag being stutter due to having no RAM left to allocate.

And what games do you play that takes up 2GB RAM but doesn't drive hard on your GPU?
