The Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network organized 100 "Justice for Trayvon" vigils across the country today. In New York City, Sharpton is at One Police Plaza with Trayvon Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, to urge the federal government to investigate civil rights charges against George Zimmerman. And the event has attracted a huge crowd, including a number of politicians, as well as Jay Z and Beyonce.
well shit guys, JAY Z and beyonce is there so they must be right. Zimmerman is a racist!
How did something so small, get so big?
Well, I'm convinced now! Zimmerman is a murderer, and I am guilty of accessory to murder by being white.
I don't think this is how the justice system is supposed to work.
"Oh, he was found innocent by a jury of his peers? Well let's throw more charges, and we'll have the President go ahead and tell everyone he's guilty also, I think that's how this whole fair justice thing works!"
didn't they lack evidence that zimmerman had any malicious intent?
jesus what's wrong with them
Imagine if we could harness this power to protest the NSA/Snowden debacle.

Race divisions and Race baiting.
I'm so fucking sick of this case, accept that he's not going to jail over it and be done. Just making yourselves look foolish as all hell. Not to mention the 'rally' in Chicago left 4 dead and 9 injured. Just move the fuck on

And they had evidence that he was assaulted.

It's a really big distraction from the NSA scandal and the Bradley Manning trial. Thats most likely the reason we're seeing politicians and even the president get involved with this nonsense.

I'm pretty sure that this was used as a distraction to cover that up.
"A bunch of famous pricks nobody cares about anymore cry about shit" Would be a better title.

He's not going to jail because some racist idiot is literally going to kill him over this, his whole life is completely fucked now because the media decided this would be a great story to sell.
[editline]21st July 2013[/editline]
Not to mention his own president basically hanging him out over the sharks, what the fuck is that about, it's so incredibly shameful.
I'm pretty sure that this was used as a distraction to cover that up.
Maybe we can use this Zimmerman protest and redirect it. We can say "ladies and gentlemen this Zimmerman trial is a grave injustice, we should stand today to end all injustice, including the injustice being perpetrated by the NSA at every citizen, for like Treyvon we are all victims to the power of the government." Or something inflammatory like that.

Not to mention Obama scoring some sorely needed African American Points (AAP's) so he can go back to ignoring them and making sure his administration cracks down on notoriously racist drug offenses.
Could someone please fill me in here?
I have not really cared much about the incident since just after it started. Last I remember we were calling Zimmerman scum and the NRA a bunch of dicks. Now we hold him high like some hero and say that anyone who thinks otherwise are shit shovelling assholes.
What changed?

The facts changed. Basically a lot of the shit that incriminated Zimmerman was outright fabricated by news agencies. I don't have specifics handy, being mobile and all.
People act like this is the first time a black person got killed by someone not black, and it wasn't even muder.
Things like this make me realise that the vast majority don't have the ability to actually be sensible and smart about these situations. I think the interction on Facepunch sort of worked alot of critical thinking into us all

The irony is palpable.

Alot of us, not all.
The irony is palpable.
Well. The difference here is that, compared to a lot of people, we have the ability and care about seeing different view points. Along with different sources than just one news channel.

Probably a lot of members (myself included) got caught up with the rest of the public in the horrible media treatment of this, where Zimmerman was basically public enemy number one from the very beginning. Then with investigations and evidence it turned out that while both parties had dirty hands in some regard in the situation, Zimmerman was not some racist blood-thirsty idiot like the media originally portrayed.
Unfortunately, now that he's been found innocent, he's being massively vilified by both the general public, and celebrity mouths who took the original story and stuck with it. So celebrities, racist mobs, and even our own President are on a crusade against the guy, and his life is basically over because he's always going to have people wanting him dead.
At least, that's my understanding of it, correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the only ones responsible for misinformation are MSNBC and CNN.
ABC had a story showing Zimmerman's injuries as blurry and called them insubstantial before "re digitizing" the video, which seems kinda shady but I'd attribute that more to incompetence than intentional yellow journalism.
Fox meanwhile was in Zimmermans corner from day one, with commentators going on about how Martin could have possibly used the Arizona beverage as a weapon :v:

Won't work. The media supports this. They'd treat what you're proposing like they treated the Occupy movement.

Yeah, you're right. And the government would probably try to shut down a protest against the NSA.

As stupid as fox's point is, it's a decently heavy can and if you use the bottom, circular portion of it as the striking mark, it could be possible.
It's a fucking stupid idea and shouldn't be taken seriously, but it would be a way to get a person off guard as a first strike.
This is hysterical because no one lifted a finger when this guy named Roderick Scott was acquitted of manslaughter in 2009 for a very similar scenario, with races reversed... Here's an article on it for those who don't know what I'm talking about. http://rochester.ynn.com/content/top_stories/490926/jury-finds-roderick-scott-not-guilty/ got
