The level cap should have been raised to begin with.
I'm getting really tired of games that make you level up.
It's a mechanic that was fun when it was new, but it's getting obvious that it's just a way to get to you to do the same thing over and over again without getting bored - and the reward is that you can do the same thing over and over again more effectively.
And now people are catching on to the idea of basically selling higher level caps (packaged with other things, of course.. but still.)

Levelling up works in some games. The Elder Scrolls series handles levelling well. You level up your abilities individually, after enough, your main level goes up, and you have a chance to increase your broader abilities that govern the more concise ones. Depending on which of the smaller abilities you level up, you can gain more of the broad skills.
I do, however, agree for the most part, regarding EXP based levelling. Experience shouldn't be a thing you collect, it should be you, as a person, getting better at the game.
Look at EA's Skate series for example. There's no stats, everything is available to you at the beginning of the game, but it's up to the player to take the tools, and build the skills to complete the game. If they find a mission that is particularly hard, then they practice that mechanic until they get it, and then progress. I think this kind of self improvement provides a much greater satisfaction than grinding until your number goes up one.

pick flowers, enemies get harder
levelling in tes iv is a joke
level 40 and still have to swing a sword three times to kill a mud crab?

Well duh, you were picking their flowers.

Tsahahahahaha
+1 funny
Neocron had a really crazy levelling system. You didn't have experience for a total level, your actions ranked up individual attributes, and when those went over, you got skill points to put in to skills in each attribute. The sum of all your attributes was your level. It honestly allowed for really, really, really picky characters. Good game.

The elder scrolls has one of the most broken leveling systems ever. If you do not know how it works by the time you are level 30 the game will be pretty much impossible on the hardest difficulty. In the opposite leveling up without wasting any stats requires annoying grinding and planning but your character will be ridonculously strong.
But anyways, I totally agree with you. Skate is one of my all time favourite games.
Somebody's still playing Borderlands?
I thought everybody got bored of it in, like, a week.
Old News.

I'm looking forward to the new DLC. I enjoyed Borderlands, and the new stuff should be a lot of fun.
I've found Borderlands a blast so far, even on my own, much, much better leveling than either TES:4 and Fallout 3 in my opinion, I've never before felt such a compulsion to explore.
I played Borderlands once or twice.
Got bored.
Bro took it to college.
Haven't wanted to play it since.
I bought it last night and I can't even install it because I don't have internet at home, so I can't even activate it.
im going to rage if the level cap raise just lets you get to 51.
"Kill Crawmerax the Invincible"
but he's invincinble :saddowns:

That means you're doing it wrong.
Did you pick the weakest race and leave the strength at default or something?

No, that site cuts the achievements list off. I think you can go to level 70.
I didn't find Borderlands any fun, after halfway through my second playthrough, it gets old doing the same campaign over again just with a few better weapons and enemies scaled to your level.

Wow. Really? You didn't even think that the image was a thumbnail? Nor did you read the text UNDER the image saying to click for the full list?
Even better is the fact that in the news post itself it says 61 as the possible new cap.
.... Really....?

Never expect anybody to read anything.
90% of the people on this forum just skim over everything.
Te new level cap is 70.
One of my friends modded it to see if he could find out what it was and he is now lv 70.
Apparently, we get 2 new cars: the Monster and the Racer.

You mean the cars that are already in the game files but unused? There's one with tank treads and I think one that hovers. The racer is that long one with the double machine gun turrets on the hood, which shows up on posters in the game in some places.
Hopefully Crab thing isn't the boss in the picture, which everyone assumed was General Knoxx. I want more than just one boss.

There's an achievement for getting to level 61.
