I have a PS2 slim, with the DVD drive that flips up. The sensor that detects when it's closed seems to be messed up, because when I close it, the console doesn't make any noises or acknowledge that there is a DVD in the drive. When I put a lot of weight onto it when it's closed(Currently I just stack up all of my other games on top of it), it will actually read the disc. The remedy worked fine for a while, but now after playing Ace Combat for a while, the disc stops spinning for up to ten minutes, and re-adjusting the stack of games around the drive sometimes gets it to work again. It's long out of warranty(obviously), and I don't want to buy another PS2 since I'm already trying to save up for BF3 and Assault Horizon. Is there some other weighted object I can try putting onto it that would be more reliable without wrecking the console, or can I somehow fix this myself?
Some googling got me some forum posts on this, but they only had one or two replies, and the OP never really posted back.
Edit: Posts said to look for two sensors in the disc drive and tape over whichever one is worn down, I searched around with a flashlight and didn't see any two things that looked alike, unless I have to open the console up.
Fixed: For anyone who looks at this thread in the future, I somehow fixed the issue. What I did was look at the sensor that is connected to a white thing that presses onto the side of the DVD, which retracts when the lid is closed. I wiggled it back and forth a few times, and... it worked from then on. I can play my games fine now, no need for fiddling with weights.

I think this is what you're looking for.
That helped, so how can I determine which one is broken, and how can I fix or remedy it without causing any damage?
Update: When I push down around the sensor on top of the picture, the disc will spin, and when I push down around the one by the power button, nothing happens, so I'm assuming the back sensor is the problem. What's the best option from here?

1. Find something that fits in that little hole and tape it in there so it's pushed in.
2. Open the system and solder a switch with some length wire on it hang it out the side and just flick it when you want the disk to spin.
I've never even touched a ps2 this is just what I would try.
