I want to learn how to play piano but I can't afford, nor do I want to take lessons. So I want to start off by playing some easy piano stuff. I don't want to play Mary Had A Little Lamb or stuff like that, I'm alright at the piano so far. I can play Don't Stop Believing, Apologize, and the backing part of Heart And Soul. I can read sheet music slowly, just nothing TOO too complicated. I have an electric keyboard. I prefer music along the lines of rock or alternative stuff. Suggestions and sheet music would be helpful.
Arranged piano music is easy to play. Swan Lake is also pretty simple. I just got done learning how to play a piano concerto by Chopin.
Matt & Kim - Daylight. The greatest simple song on piano to play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLkMGQmR3Qc
Twinkle Twinkle little star
Easy by Faith No More It sounds pretty cool, and I learned it.
If you like Nintendo Music you could probably learn some stuff off this website; http://www.ninsheetm.us/ I have about the same status as you. Can read simple Piano sheet slowly. I'd just look figure out a few songs.
Passenger Seat by Death Cab for Cutie is easy but also incredibly powerful: Moonlight Sonata(first movement) is also pretty easy and again very powerful: Although I don't know anyone who hasn't ever heard Moonlight Sonata.
110 Easy and Progressive Exercises by Czerny. They're not purely exercises.. they're actually songs. http://allpianoscores.com/free_scores.php?id=319 I know you said rock or alternative but other people are suggesting classical too.
Classical is important, especially for piano. It teaches the chord progressions, melodies, extended chords, and dynamics way better than rock can.
Glad you are interested in piano, here are a few pieces (classical) that are pretty simple : Consolation 3 By Liszt. Minute Waltz By Chopin. You could also look up rondo ala turca by Mozart, or fur elise. I can't say I really like those pieces, but most people seem to enjoy them so... Oh and Gymnopédie by Erik Satie.
Kanye West - Stronger DFAFAFDF GGCG oh i forget. It'll be on the net somewhere.
