go with a cooler master 430 elite case instead if you really want a window
just remember it gets pretty boring looking through a case window
snip
also ditch the 500w go with 600w just to be safe
snip
I only picked it because its a really cheap deal with the case, if I picked a seperate power supply and a case it would be more expensive.

Yes it is, by a fair amount.

Do not but Powercolor cards. They are absolute shit, so shit that they can't even run at default clocks. Get a Sapphire or something instead.

Sounds like somebody had a bad experience with Powercolor. They aren't fucking horrible like he makes them out to be, albeit not the best either.
just save up a bit more
if your going to get cheap parts your going to get cheap frame rates and game's you can play

Is everything here compatible / good? I'm making one last check before I buy it.
Looks good, you could save money on the motherboard, though.

If a company can't produce chips reliable enough to run at stock clocks, they are not a good company. I would not trust the quality of their cards at all.

I want to see a source, because if it's what I'm thinking of then it's just some idiot who doesn't know the difference between factory OC and stock clocks, and I have never heard anyone say this before now
powercolour isn't a top level brand but they're not completely terrible
[editline]9th February 2012[/editline]
also the coolermaser psu is terrible don't use it

you would be better changing to these

I was just saying that I wouldn't trust a company that makes poor quality chips that don't even meet specifications. I've had no experience with powercolor and from looking at Newegg their cards seem to run at proper speeds. But there are companies like ECS that do it, and their cards aren't known to last very long.

I only picked the coolermaster case and psu because they were cheap together, if I picked them seperately I would be way over budget, also, the psu you picked is 450w while my gpu requires a minimum of 500w.
The motherboard is mini atx, does this mean anything? Will I still be able to use it? Will I still be able to use crossfire in the future? also it says "2 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1333/1066 Hz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory", is the ram I picked compatible?
the CM PSU outputs 360W at 12V, the XFX outputs 408W while being higher quality
you have a cheaper mobo to compensate for the cost increase
mATX is just ATX with 4 expansion slots instead of 7, it still uses the same mounting holes as ATX (just fewer as the board is shorter)
the RAM is compatiable
you won't be able to prepare for crossfire on this budget, you'd need a more expensive PSU and mobo
the xfx is cheaper, outputs the same amount on 12V, and comes from a higher quality OEM

So is everything here good then? are you 100% sure the RAM is compatible?
thats fine
yes the RAM is compatible, it'll just be set to 1333 by default but the difference between 1333 and 1600 isn't even really worth the time to set it to 1600 manually

Shouldn't I just buy 1333 RAM then?
it's pretty much the same price, there's no point bothering

Would this be a better choice of ram for just £1.30 more?
no
the heatspreaders on vengeance cause all sorts of problems, they serve no purpose and are just annoying to deal with
what you had is fine
If there was a deal you could just cut em off.... right?
If there was a deal you could just cut em off.... right?
Except they're more expensive and that's a huge waste of time.
Taking heatspreaders off voids your warranty most of time
Apparently they don't sell the motherboard anymore, so I need to find a replacement one for around the same price, could someone help?
