My friend invited us all over because she was house-sitting for a friend. Her friend was cool with having a bunch of people over as long as we cleaned up our mess, etc. Apparently the family that lives there believes it's haunted, but the mother is too attached to their house to sell it. My friend has been over there many, many times and apparently weird shit is always going on after dark - footsteps from upstairs, whispering upstairs, and random shit falling by itself. I thought it was probably just the cat or something and I didn't really care too much about it - we were having a bunch of friends over, we'd be safe!

This is an incredibly crude drawing of the house we stayed in (minus the top floor which is just more bedrooms and a bathroom.)
Anyway, a lot of people went home (sober) but a few of us were left. I put one of my friends to bed upstairs (they were drunk af) and then put my other friend to bed downstairs, in the room I slept in. She slept on the bed and I slept on a couch nearby. The only other two people were my buddy and his fiancee.
I started hearing footsteps upstairs. Of course, I decide it was my drunk friend going to the bathroom or something so I dismiss it. (I still think that might be the case)
I then hear the door (marked in red on the horrific drawing) close. I think that it's my friend. I'm ready to pass out, but then my friend calls me.
"Hey man, where are you?"
"I'm in the back room, why"
"Some weird shit is going on in here. The door is fucking closing by itself, I think. (fiancee) is hearing a voice from upstairs, is (my friend) awake?"
"No, I put her to bed wtf"
"Can we sleep in the same room as you guys? It'd probably be safer"
His fiancee was audibly afraid in the background of the call. I agree and they walk down the hall. What freaks me out is that I continue to hear the clicking sound of the door closing and opening again. My friend and his fiancee come into the room and lay down, and we are in complete silence. The door continued to open and close for another 10 minutes, with about 2 minutes between each time. I was scared shitless (I was also drunk so the feeling was intensified). Eventually it stopped and I managed to fall asleep.
Now I'm thinking what the fuck?? What could have caused something like that other than a poltergeist or something? I'm still skeptical and honestly I want to tell myself it was just a drunken hallucination but my buddy remembers it too. She has to house-sit for them again in a few weeks for 10 days this time and wants people over because she doesn't wanna be alone, and I intend to set up a camera or something and try to capture it happening again. Apparently it isn't a rare occurrence.
In closing, what could have done this? Do you guys think that would be a spirit or something or something else easily explained? Feel free to share your stories too!
it's definitely an evil spooky house. it is your friend's house sitting duty to expel all spirits from the house while it is under their care, not sure how to do this though.

ill bring my ouija board and tell it that its mean
Is the door in question properly shut when closed, as in the the piece that goes into the wall clicks shut?
I've had many experiences where I heard doors in my house open for seemingly no reason, only to realise that the slightest breeze passing through my windows was able to open the doors because they weren't actually closed.
Were any windows open in either room? It could honestly be attributed to wind.

I thought so too, but there weren't any windows open and it made an audible click when it closed so I know it had been shut all the way
Was someone fucking with you guys and you didn't realize it?
Maybe the girl who's housesitting is messing with you, me and my friends have always done that kind of shit to eachother, and half the time we forgot to tell them it was us or what we did.
Well I doubt this is the work of ghosts.
You may have vicious house gnomes, though.
get out of there
