how it feels to lose your coke

An 11-month-old boy inadvertently got a woman arrested when he allegedly pulled a baggie of cocaine out of her shirt during a traffic stop.
The arrest happened Sunday morning in Daytona Beach, Florida, when officers pulled over a car for having dark tinted windows and an open trunk with an unsecured bicycle, the Daytona News-Journal reports.
Volusia County Deputies noticed the driver, Daniel Dougherty, appeared nervous. His hands were shaking and his voice was cracking, according to the arrest report.
Officers asked for the licenses of Dougherty, front seat passenger Candyce Harden, and Crystal Matthews, who was in the back seat with the 11-month-old boy. Police won't say if either Harden or Matthews is his mother.
Officers discovered Matthews was on “Florida Inmate Release status” for the sale/manufacture/or delivery of cocaine, according to the police report.
When a K-9 unit arrived to check the car, all the passengers were asked to step outside of the vehicle. Harden held the child during the vehicle search.
No drugs were found and the deputy started returning the licenses back to Dougherty, Matthews and Harden.
When he gave back the license to Harden, cops said the child reached inside her shirt and pulled out a baggie containing cocaine, the Associated Press reports.

Deputies then conducted a second search of the car and allegedly found three more baggies and pills without a prescription, ClickOrlando reports.
and they pretty much only got pulled over for the bike hanging off their car in the first place
When your plan requires a baby to behave predictably, you may want to rethink that plan.
I'd like to think this was the baby's way of ending his mother's coke habit.
How did they have a dog there and not find anything in the car until they did a 2nd search?

I don't think that getting caught was a part of their plan

Dog has a soft spot for coke addicted kids.
She even looks high in the picture.

No one cared about them until they put on the bike (incorrectly).
You can get your car searched using a sniffer dog just for having tinted windows and an unsecure trunk?

This is my understanding of Supreme Court findings on the matter:
In the US, during any traffic stop, police can dog-sniff-search the outside of your car. This is because the sniff search is not thought to infringe on any privacy in which you have any legitimate interest (that is, it only theoretically reveals illegal materials). Furthermore, a car is not subject to as strict Fourth Amendment protection as, say, a house.
Police can sniff the outside of your car, HOWEVER that is entirely conditional on them getting a dog to the location of that traffic stop in a timely manner, before the proceedings of the traffic stop are finished, before you are delivered your ticket, before the seizure of your vehicle is ended.
They cannot dilly dally or detain you longer than is necessary to wait for the dog to arrive. The best you can do is make it clear that your encounter with the police is involuntary, ask if you can leave, etc. because otherwise it will very loosely be interpreted as "you're there of your own accord".

No. Driver was released recently for the sale/manufacturing/or delivery of cocaine.
Thats how it happens. You first get stopped for having tint and an unsecured load
