Trump calls for a tax reform 'speed-up' in light of Hurricane Irma

Very short article.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he will ask the Republican-controlled Congress to further speed up its efforts to overhaul the U.S. tax code, citing the potential impact of Hurricane Irma as a reason to hasten reforms.
“I think now with what’s happened with the hurricane, I‘m going to ask for a speedup. I wanted a speedup anyway, but now we need it even more so,” the president said at the outset of a Cabinet meeting at Camp David. The White House released a video of his remarks.
Trump urged Congress in a Friday tweet not to wait until the end of September for tax legislation.
I'm pretty sure even the house republicans probably used it for something else it was so rediculous. By all signs, they're going to do the same damn thing with healthcare, secretly hash out a draconian piece of legislature, push it past committee, drop it on the floor and urge everybody to vote on it so they can fix it later. they so far have a group of 6 people writing the entire thing, and they already plan to use reconcilliation to shut democrats out of it, and the trump admin seems totally lost on even the basics like what the corporate tax rate should be, trump wants 15%, munchin wants something more, and the house wants 20%, but even these do not reflect the real rates corporations pay which would be a substantial uprecedented cut to their taxes if we ignore everything else and focus on the straight %s
What reform will happen other than cutting taxes

Higher taxes on the poor if Reagan is anything to go by.

What the hell does hurricane irma have to do with tax reforms?

Irma is distracting from his tax reform plans and he's probably upset about it. He'd rather make sure his government is doing everything they can to make him richer than man up and deal with the economic crisis on his hands now.

The funny thing is that Harvey and Irma have created a massive disaster charge and that bill's gonna come due sooner or later.
Trump has to pay for it by either throwing it all onto the deficit and pissing off his base who expected him to shrink the government and not expand its financial irresponsibility by an extra $250 billion or however much it costs... ooooor he can't deliver his giant tax cut to the rich and the corporate overlords, because those taxes are now needed to pay for the cost of disaster relief. And that's before the other storms lining up behind Irma threaten the continental US with even more disaster damage.
Trump's plans are hitting reality nice and hard. I can't wait for another round of "nobody knew it'd be this hard" as he capitulates to Democrats because they can deliver him a clean win again.
