Diane James has been elected as the UK Independence Party's new leader and has told Prime Minster Theresa May to "get on with" getting the UK out of the EU.
Ms James had been regarded as the favourite to succeed Nigel Farage, who quit as leader following the UK's vote to leave the EU.
The MEP won with 8,451 votes. ahead of Lisa Duffy, who received 4,591.
She said UKIP was "the opposition party in waiting" and said the Tories "cannot be trusted with true Brexit".
"The threats to the referendum outcome are increasing by the day," she said, adding she would reject "Brexit-lite".
To applause at the UKIP conference, she said: "Yes to a 100% European Union exit. Can I be any clearer? Yes to a sovereign independent UK. Yes to a UK free to make trade deals with whoever and whenever we want and yes to an immigration policy that allows entry regardless of origin to those with the skills and the expertise and the social values that this country wants."
On the referendum vote, Ms James warned that "we have only just won a heat" in a "28-member state Olympic competition to leave the European Union".
She praised her predecessor and said she was "not Nigel-lite" and would not pretend to be so but would be "stepping into his leadership shoes" to try to continue his political success.
Something I found after a bit of googling about her:
James made several controversial comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin in an April 2015 interview with Iain Dale, saying she admired him and that he was a strong leader who puts his country first and that he and UKIP may share common ground over their disagreements with the EU
Warning bells should be going off in everyone's heads right now since Trump also admires Putin. Tell me lads, do you want to follow in the footsteps of a party that's caused a ton of damage to the United Kingdom already - and wants to keep on ruining it?

This is Russia's plan of world domination, get crazy and corrupt people in power, just like the Russian way.
:bullshit:
What's with the alt-right's ridiculous hard-on for Putin? I don't get it. Is it because he's portrayed as a stereotypical overtly masculine alpha male character? Is that really what matters, and not the fact that he's corrupt as shit along with the rest of his government?
It's almost like international politics is more about sexual insecurities than actual political skill.

I'm also wondering a lot about that.
These parties often portray themselves as patriotic or nationalistic, but doesn't hesitate for one second to suck some Putin dick.

Ill ask around but I am guessing he is a realpolitik thus get things done.
Quotes
Not mine. Just replies Im getting.
Question is, why NOT? Sure, he's probably had a few folks killed here and there. Probably not a single world leader with bloodless hands. Point is, in this WEAK ASS modern age, the man gets shit DONE, son.
Knowing a number of people that don't neccassarily have the "alt-right" mentality but a watered down and similiar Daily Mail spoonfed version of it, these people like Putin because he's seen as having a hard stance against Muslims, refugees and ISIS and sections of the media have nothing good to say about the the first two, diluting the debate down to headlines like those this week from the mail and express that were saying Muslim immigrants were going to destroy christmas, and I'm not joking
The problem is that the biggest parts of the British media, particularly the newspapers, are unbelievably corrupt, and deliberately post articles glorifying Putin while never fully touching on the fact that, for instance, he's a tyrant in a country where you can be arrested for making materials that discuss homosexuality, or that his unguided bombing campaign has killed hundreds of innocent civilians and is mostly against the Syrian rebels, not ISIS terroists.
The sort of people that think Putin's an inspirational figure would suck a hundred cocks to see a similar British leader that comes across as "strong", "hardline" and a "patriot"
what the honest fuck happened to russoscepticism in the west? they fear the specter of the EU but wow putin such a chill guy and strong, dependable and that'll be cash or check
Ill ask around but I am guessing he is a realpolitik.
Is pragmatic.
Seems to give a shit about his nation and isnt trying to shove some "batshit crazy" ideals down every one throat.
Not my view but that my guess what they are thinking.
If you're talking about Putin its hilarious how utterly wrong you are. His policies have fucked Russia's economy up big time and he's basically outlawed protesting in his country and uses his police force to violently suppress any dissent against him.
If you even bothered to do a couple minutes research on google you could find this out.

Whatever dude. The question is asked. I am giving my very limited understanding. I am going ask them directly.
Take it up with them, not me. I am curious as well so I am going to find out.

Why contribute if you can't even be bothered to explain or defend your position.

What position? Did I say I support Putin? Where did I say "this is my position?"
I find it kind of funny how even UKIP has had a female leader before Labour.
I find it kind of funny how even UKIP has had a female leader before Labour.
Equality is about equal opportunity, not outcome. Labour had a few female candidates run for leader, but didn't win because people preferred Corbyn.

she wouldn't have won if woolfe was allowed to register.

Aren't alt-righters all about free speech also? Seems odd to admire Putin.
Is it because he's portrayed as a stereotypical overtly masculine alpha male character?
Yes.
The alt-right isn't exactly an intellectual haven. A majority of the kids involved in it constantly screech "cuck" at anybody who opposes them, believe that being physically strong is pretty much the only prerequisite to authority and fucking hate actually debating shit because that requires effort.
Equality is about equal opportunity, not outcome. Labour had a few female candidates run for leader, but didn't win because people preferred Corbyn.
I completely agree with you! It's just funny how UKIP is often accused of misogyny etc and Labour likes to bill itself as a progressive feminist party e.g the Labour Pink Bus.

when has the alt-right ever made sense

Because Russia is (sort of) a rival to the EU, which the alt-right largely considers to be a blight on european society and government. From their perspective Putin is the voice of reason among a bunch of cowardly, easily manipulated fools that seek to destroy europe.
