Seoul, South Korea (CNN) - A Chinese passenger jet with more than 200 people on board flew through the trajectory of a North Korean rocket that had been fired minutes earlier, the South Korean government said.

North Korea fired the rocket Tuesday at 4:17 p.m. without giving any navigational warning, Kim Min-Seok, a spokesman for the South Korean Defense Ministry, said Wednesday. Seven minutes later, a China Southern Airlines plane carrying 220 passengers from Japan's Narita airport to Shenyang in China passed through the rocket's trajectory, he said.
Source: http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/05/world/asia/north-korea-missiles/
I missed the nearly in the title and almost freaked the fuck out. Still fucking stupid of them though.
It didn't exactly "nearly" blew it.
10/10 NK, almost destroying an airliner of the only nation that is remotely willing to tolerate them.
And another letter is written... but this time in very strong language.
10/10 NK, almost destroying an airliner of the only nation that is remotely willing to tolerate them.
Not even tolerate really, China is pretty damn sick of NKs shit, and are slowly distancing themselves. They just don't want NK gone, as that'd lead to a huge influx of refugrees they don't really want to deal with.
And another letter is written... but this time in very strong language.
If it's another jab the UN, I'll bring up the fact the UN is remarkably successful when they can actually do shit, without the US, UK, Russia, France or China using veto powers to fuck things up. There are also several places where peacekeepers are and have been for a while, and have been remarkably successful. Take Cyprus, for example or the Indian / Pakistani border. There's something like 115,000 active UN peacekeepers at the moment.
Wow. China and NK relations would be so far down shits creek; a paddle wouldn't even do anything. They are so fucking lucky it didn't hit. I can't imagine looking out the side of my window on a plane and seeing a old ass NK missile fly by
And another letter is written... but this time in very strong language.
Nope. Military exercises.
Nope. Military exercises.
The Dear Leader will not stand for this capitalist Western provocation. He built that missile with his own hands and threw it into the sky while your puppet Obama massacres brown people and steals candy from children. Who is the real monster?
If that had hit might it have been the war NK so desperately craves?
It didn't exactly "nearly" blew it.
While it would have been fairly far apart in terms of where the plane would be at the time the missile was launched it is still extremely close in terms of a motherfucking missile having the potential to casually collide with a 200 person passenger jet.

The chances of hitting the aircraft were extremely low. And yes it was a military exercise. Seven missiles were fired on that morning. Seven missiles were fired on that morning.
I was just thinking out loud about if I was to see a missile fly by me while being in an airliner. A missile being anywhere close to shooting down a passenger airline is a massive fuckup in my eyes. Hence why I thought NK was lucky as fuck.
Am I just on everyone's ignore list or did anyone even read the article?
It would suck balls being hellbanned on FP
If that had hit might it have been the war NK so desperately craves?
theoretical headline "China approves use of military forces to help protect ethnic Chinese in China from north korean extremists in new little China, so far Chinese forces have siezed north Korea without a shot fired, pentagon reports China has 'lol taken over' Chinese president flatly denies Chinese forces involvement, claims they are just roving gangs of caring citizens" [editline]6th March 2014[/editline] this is what you get for fitting a tactical cruize missile in the most heavily traficed airspace...in the world

Even the helicopters
Honestly, I want to see NK just get annihilated... Send some spies in to disable their missile system, and then watch them get steamrolled by Russia/China/US. If you set up a puppet dictatorship, you can even avoid the refugee problems. Is that wrong?
just send in a wave of cruise missiles to hit the suicide artillery which is all over the boarder then you can just steamroll them without worrying about the massive artillery attacking seoul

NK is a mess as it is and shockingly I don't have any magic solution but I hope that military action is not the way things go one day.

Seven minutes isn't a near miss. A seven minute gap isn't even a wide miss. They fired a rocket and a passenger jet happened to pass by later. A bit irresponsible of them but hardly newsworthy.
Bullshit headline, they didn't shoot AT the plane, the plane blundered through the flight path of a missile test after it was launched seven minutes earlier.
the seven minute gap would mean it was at least 50km away from the plane pretty sure a near miss is around 500m-200m
NK can't even test missiles for their secret Sweden invasion in privacy anymore.

It's either people die, or they go on in a living hellscape. Which is more ethical?

In this case they don't know whats good for them because they aren't aware anything else exists. They think the rest of the world outside of NK is an apocalyptic wasteland.
It didn't exactly "nearly" blew it.
7 minutes is quite an easy time frame to completely miscalculate. This was poor judgement on NK part.
I would think within 5 minutes you would start feeling some serious atmospheric disturbances.

How is that freedom going to come about, exactly? The Kims/Jongs/Uns aren't going to hand over the reigns, and the aristocracy isn't going to give up their puppet government. There's going to have to be some force involved.
