AN imam at the centre of a dispute over plans to build a mosque near Ground Zero is being sued by a northern New Jersey community where he owns two apartment buildings.
Newark's The Star-Ledger newspaper reports the lawsuit was filed today in state Superior Court by Union City, which is just across the Hudson River from New York and has about 70,000 residents.
It says the lawsuit charges that Feisal Abdul Rauf hasn't addressed complaints by tenants and orders from the city to correct code violations.
The lawsuit identifies Mr Rauf as sole officer of building owner Sage Development LLC. One building has been vacant since a 2008 fire. The other contains 16 apartments.
The newspaper says repeated calls to Mr Rauf's home telephone in North Bergen were met with busy signals.
It was stupid anyway, building a mosque where islam terrorists attacked.
Why do people STILL call it the Ground Zero mosque, when it's an Islamic community center two freaking blocks from Ground Zero, not even in sight of it? Morons.

Two New York City blocks.
Who fucking cares. I can't believe this has gotten so much publicity. It's not even a fucking mosque it's a "cultural center". Like a fucking YMCA. But instead of Christian its Muslim.
More bullshit being thrown into the fan aimed at something so harmless and mundane...
It was stupid anyway, building a mosque where islam terrorists attacked.
By misrepresenting your religion in such a way that you make them all seem like vicious, blood-thirsty monsters you are no longer apart of them, but fools misguided by gibberish taken in by other fools who wish to gain control and harness whatever power they can for themselves in order to manipulate others into emulating their behavior. It's like, referring to the morons down at WBBC as Christians. They're dumbass rejects with mental problems, not Christians. I'm guessing you're one of the people who see this Community Center as a symbol of Islam "conquering" the US. Grow up, dude.
anyone want to googlemap a pin to roughtly show where it is in relation to GZ?
for people who dont live in the us and dont know how big a city block is
It was stupid anyway, building a mosque where islam terrorists attacked.
People also shouldn't be allowed to build churches within several blocks of any domestic terrorist attack where a christian was the perpetrator by that logic.
This entire situation is finger pointing, bullshit, and bigotry. It's fucking sad. It really is.
Politics, pure fucking politics.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore..
Wow people are really butt hurt over this
Just a building.
So, let me get this right, everyone in here is raging because a guy who hasn't taken care of apartments he owns, gets sued for not taking care of it? Seriously?
And to those of you who say it isn't a mosque; it has a praying room and recreational rooms, which a mosque has. Just because it doesn't have minarets to shout out that it's time for prayer, doesn't mean it's not a mosque.
Well I do understand that people do not want a terrorist base right next to a terrorist attack site.

Most airports have a prayer room which includes a Muslim prayer rug. Most airports also have a recreational room. Therefore, by your logic, all airports are Mosques. :downs:

Damn them. A few radical Islamics attacked us, and all of them must abandon their freedom of religion. Fuck them!!!

"A mosque is a place of worship for followers of Islam" so yes, technically airports could count as that, as they are a place for Muslims to pray at.

The Jewish community centre near me has a small religious thing, is it a synagogue then? It also has this whole Israel thing there too, is it an Israeli embassy?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosque
It's a community Centre. Seriously, it's supposed to be like 3% praying room out of the whole building.
Even if it was, so fucking what? Who cares? why should you give a fuck?
[editline]07:29PM[/editline]
why are you trying to correct us, it's such a non-sequitor issue.

I merely mentioned it is a mosque, as I believe even the imam himself said it is a mosque. Those who decided to quote me and question that could simply of not have done it and we wouldn't be here.
I don't think the Imam has called it a mosque.

3% praying room, 97% terrorist planning space

Wow why are people complaining. It's not even facing Ground Zero and it's not even located on a cross street at ground zero. I would say no if they tried to build one right across the street from the entrance though.
You guys do realize this article has nothing do with the ground zero mosque/community center right?

What I think, and most likely many other people think, when words "Ground Zero Mosque" are dropped:
