I'm sure someone will remember my failed Zenit 12XP repair so I'm going for something less ambitious, I am going to remove all the old paint as there is rust under it and I will then repaint it and replace the leatherette with Red leatherette.

Right now I am busy stripping off the paint and there will be a photo of my progress once I am finished
Also if anyone has any recommendations on brands of paint to repaint it with please comment, as at the moment I'm planning to use some Hammerite Paint

What kind of paint are you going to use?
Plain black Hammerite unless I think of something better
Paint it red, and put bright yellow cosmonauts on the back of it.

Any ideas/plans on how to remove the brush marks? (if there are any)
Just sending it perhaps?
Now the Brush marks are only a problem in two parts and I think I'll just coat over it, but if that doesn't work it will be sanded or maybe I'll leave it. Either way its better than the factory finish
My camera is finished, the leatherette arrived today and I cut it and stuck it to the body

And Its now loaded with a roll of Ektar.
Shiny leather! Have you thought about aging it somehow?
Also, I'm not all for cosmetics when it comes to cameras but that russian Zenit logo is sweet, I'd kill to have Nikon engraved in Japanese on my camera.

The Zenit ET was mainly made for sale in the USSR, just as it was collapsing, so the ones that have made their way to the UK all have the Russian for Zenit on them.
