I received a computer from a friend recently and it has a 200GB HDD that I want to format.
The computer has a RAID card that is something like Promise FastTrack. I don't know if that is relevant but I've been trying to format it and no matter what I do it will not let me.
I've tried through cmd prompt, right clicking the drive in My Computer, the option is grayed out in Disc Manger and when I insert my Windows 7 disc the drive doesn't even appear in the drives list.
How the hell do I format this thing?!
The RAID card thing is a Promise 2+0 Stripe/RAID0 SCSI Disc Device by the way.
And when I try to install Windows 7 over XP it says that the drive for the Promise FastTrack could not be found.
use gparted to format it ;)
it's a bootdisk so you first have to burn it on a cd.
you can download it HERE
for more info you can look over HERE
Thanks, I'll try it later and post results.
Maybe it's a faulty RAID? How did you set up the RAID system?
I didn't, the previous owner did. I have like zero knowledge of how RAID works.
