A Chinese man, who had been in the run for more than 10 years, has been remanded into custody accused of producing and supplying cannabis
Appearing in the dock of Craigavon Magistrates' Court alongside a Mandarin interpreter, Ke Quan Zhang confirmed that he understood the five charges against him.
Zhang, 49 and with an address at the Tandragee Road in Portadown, is accused of producing the class B drug cannabis, possessing with intent to supply, being concerned in the supply of a class B drug and possession of cannabis, all alleged to have occurred on Thursday.
The charges arise after police officers from the Organised Crime Branch uncovered a suspected cannabis factory.
Zhang is further charged with breaching a deportation order on 1 January 1997 by entering the UK.
A detective constable told the court he believed he could connect Zhang to the charges and as no bail application was lodged, District Judge Bernadette Kelly remanded him into custody to appear again on 15 August by video link.
I'm sure it was worth the cost of finding him /s
I think being on the run for 10 years is more than enough punishment for something that shouldn't even be a crime in the first place?
But who cares, right? Lets waste thousands/millions of dollars and man hours in order to make sure that we further ruin this man's life.
ten years on the run for growing plants some people don't like lmao

Hardly the point though, is it.

Guess he shouldn't have broken the law then

Exactly, in a voting some years ago people were given a bunch of plant photos and cannabis got the least votes and that's why it was declared illegal.
That's exactly how silly and simple the world is, hon hon hon.

Sarcasm.
Producing? Makes it sound like he builds cannabis plants from spare parts in a junk yard.

Where do you think weed needles come from?

this is not a laughing matter. people die assembling marijuanas in weed factories all the time.

Why was it made illegal in the first place. More importantly we wouldn't have to chase people for over 10 years and waste precious time and money if it was never made illegal.
Guess he shouldn't have broken the law then
Oh please, you're really going to go there

Muh morality and puritanism.
As far as I'm concerned, each to their own as far as drug preferences go. If you must do drugs, at least try to do those drugs which cause less permanent harm to the body like cannabis. I'm obliged to hold up that part of the viewpoint at least.

Far from it, I've only tried it once or twice to experience the effects for a paper I was writing in med school :v:
I don't like this law so I don't think anyone who breaks it should be punished.
I take marijuana injections as much as the next guy, but saying that he shouldn't be arrested because you think the ban on weed is silly makes you silly.

Just because certain laws exist that make it legal to do dumb shit and illegal to do harmless shit, doesn't make them a good idea either. Only thing is we're stuck with that sort of ass-backwards ideology in the law books because the people who made them only bothered about control and morality.
I'm not saying that it's right that he was caught qfter ten years, but if you'be been on he run and faced deportation, wouldn't it be a good idea to find something new to do thats a little less incriminating?

In america, you can tell a doctor that you smoke it and the most thwy can do is give you their opinion of it.
"follow the law because its the law blablablah" bullshit

stupid redundant statement
we're complaining because he's being punished due to the law existing in the first place
i'm glad they finally caught this disgusting, evil man before he could ruin any more lives
Seriously tho what the fuck, a 10 year manhunt for growing/dealing weed?
Ridiculous.
i for one, am glad that this vile criminal has finally been caught
i can only imagine how many lives he has taken and how many families he has ruined by procuring these malignant weed needles and other dark magics
ten years on the run for growing plants some people don't like lmao
We're not saying enforcing the law is silly, we're saying this law is silly to enforce in the first place, and so it's silly that they were nabbed.
Guess he shouldn't have broken the law then
“When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.”
Completely accurate in many peoples cases

Some doctors may treat you differently I think. In my area of the country, they will not prescribe you any controlled substances if you test positive for cannabis, or other illicit drugs.
Plant smoking scum, the only plant you're allowed to smoke is tobacco

if i don't support a law why would i support someone being arrested for breaking it

It could be because of something that might not go well with the said drug. You cannot be convicted or anything if you tell your doctor you do it.
