Israel orders criminal probes of actions by its military in Gaza
Israel has ordered criminal investigations into some suspected cases of international law violations by its military during the recent fighting against Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip.
The cases are among dozens under examination by Israel's military involving operations that resulted in Palestinian civilian fatalities and damage to United Nations facilities.
The swiftness of the self-investigation by the military and the publicity about it appeared partly intended to get ahead of an investigation commissioned by the UN Human Rights Council into allegations of possible war crimes. The Israeli government has said it will not cooperate with the UN mission, asserting that its mandate is biased against Israel.
Just a farce so people can point at this and say "look they be doing shit they're totally not cunts"
Until they do it largescale against both their military and the civilians they help do shit against palestine, they won't have improved at all.
I'm not holding my breath over the results but I'm glad that they are at least striving for self-regulation. If the UNHRC can complete its investigation I'll definitely be curious as to how the Israeli self-assessment matches up - It is concerning that Israel won't cooperate with the UN in this case.
