NX launches in March next year and may not appear at E3 this year.
The NX will also not be "replacing" the Wii U or 3DS.

Really hoping for a handheld with good hardware for once.
Between this and Sony/Microsoft potentially launching new mid-lifespan consoles, this is going to be a weird E3.

This blows. Nearly another year to wait. I can't really complain as we got showered with Zelda stuff recently so I guess they have something big for 2016's holiday release.
Let's cross fingers it something really fucking big, like a new Metroid Prime or an F-Zero game. That would actually be legit amazing.
I keep getting the vibe that this'll either cater to the hardcore demographic or it'll be something mobile phone related.

Think the rumours about everyone getting devkits are true too? New Zelda is a hell of a release game, but if that's all there will be for a while then it's going to be another bad start.
I get that they don't want to look like they're abandoning the WiiU, but it would go a lot better if they at least announce a few NX games at E3.

As long as they avoid the colossal fuckup that was the wii u's reveal. I'm not sure avoiding announcing it altogether is such a good idea though.

Considering the Wii's track record, that wouldn't be a smart choice. Best to release it during a time when it's not likely to sell like crazy while production can't keep up.

They mentioned it once or twice at the beginning of last year. Unless you mean on social media, which in that case this is the first time it's been acknowledge.
This seems like such an odd decision from Nintendo to not show off their next console that's coming out soon-ish at this year's E3. It's also rumored that Nintendo does not have any planned games for the Wii U or NX at this E3 (other then the next Zelda game).
Not a rumor. Nintendo said it themselves.
