Sorry the controls are arrow keys but you can't jump strait up. Still trying to figure out how. [editline]08:51PM[/editline] The game is still a WIP. [editline]08:52PM[/editline] It is REALLY glitchy still trying to fix it, but wanted to see what people thought of it.
Make a basic 2D game then build it up. I think this has some potential.
Why would you make fairly polished art before getting a solid foundation? Makes no sense.
Why would you make fairly polished art before getting a solid foundation? Makes no sense.
Why not?
Why not?
Because there's no reason to polish content when the underlying core mechanics hardly work. It would be like casting roles for a movie before the script is written or modeling levels for a game before you've really created the engine.

Art, music and programming are three completely seperate things in game design and can be created in any order. After you've written a game design document you know everything you need, so what difference does it make what order you create everythig? None. It will all come together the same in the end.

This isn't bad. I'll just give you a rundown of some issues (You'll probably be aware of most of them, but I'll post just in case) -File size (obviously) -Not being able to jump without moving (seriously) -When I first started it up it seriously mangled something up. I wasn't able to start ANY of my programs for some reason (I got a random error of some sort) I assume this is related to the game because the second it started up (about a minute later when I was about to restart) the problem was resolved. -Being able to cling onto walls/stepping on the side of tiles -Tight (maybe too tight) collision detection. I'm pretty sure you can hang onto a platform with your hair. Although this is realistic (kind of) you might want to go for a clipping box for a better game mechanic. Other than that, it seems pretty allright. Good luck.
