Cannot recover windows 7 (Required Device Inaccessible) Urgent Help
3 replies, posted
My parents computer was working fine this morning, then in some normal use it apparently shut down and refused to boot, bringing up an Error '0xc000000f' message and saying to repair from CD.
However when i try to repair from CD it can't find any windows installations, and when i use the file browser in the recover disk it finds the secondary drives, but i cant explore the main disk drive (F:\). Using chkdsk also says that it can't find any windows installations and that 'F:/lotsofrandomletters' is inaccessible.
Really could do with some help, my parents need the computer to do their jobs properly and i leave to uni in a few days so i cant really help after that.
Thanks
Edit:
Also comes up with this error at one point 'The file or directory F:\ is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility.'
How can i run chkdsk specifically on F:\
Open command console and do chkdsk F:\
Have done, brings up the same error.
Well the disk is probably damaged. You can try a recovery utility like Spinrite, though it's not free.
