A team of Canadian academics have found that the more plausible the lie, the more quick-witted they will be in later years and the better their ability to think on their feet. "Parents should not be alarmed if their child tells a fib," said Dr Kang Lee, director of the Institute of Child Study at Toronto University who carried out the research. "Almost all children lie. Those who have better cognitive development lie better because they can cover up their tracks. They may make bankers in later life." Lying involves multiple brain processes, such as integrating sources of information and manipulating the data to their advantage. It is linked to the development of brain regions that allow executive functioning and use higher order thinking and reasoning. Dr Lee and his team tested 1,200 children aged two to 16 years old. They found at the age of two, 20 per cent of children will lie. This rises to 50 per cent by three and almost 90 per cent at four. The most deceitful age, they discovered, was 12, when almost every child tells lies. Researchers say there is no link between telling fibs in childhood and any tendency to cheat in exams or to become a fraudster later in life.
I was a great liar. :ninja:
Great. I'm always 100% honest. Guess there goes my chances of being successful.
I'm a horrible liar on purpose. If someone asks me who ate the last doughnut, I tell them it was a passing astronaut, when really it was me all along! MUHAHAHA
So that's how you become a politician... gotta start young.
I lied so much when I was a kid, but later in life I started too be more truthful. All my friends call me a Natural leader and I usually always take control during projects and do so in a good way (Not like a control freak) :D Yay?
Well, of course, because that's what leaders do: lie and cover things up
Wait, so lying, trouble making kids will have more success then truthful kids? What the hell?!
Good thing, cause I'm one twisted motherfucker at school.
I always lie. This post is a lie too
I lie a lot and I'm a terrible leader simply because I lie so much everyone gets confused. Although I probably could be a great leader if I cared enough to be one, I enjoy watching others scramble around in confusion when only I know the truth. :ninja: [editline]07:52PM[/editline] I do always tell the truth in the end though because I'm not that much of a dick
I promised that i never lie. I LIED. :psyduck:
I always lie. This post is a lie too
:psyboom:
I used to lie constantly as a child, but I kind of grown out of that. I now avoid the truth in situations where lying would prevail.
I lie ALOT.
this thread is liars represent yo yo what up of course that was also a lie
I lie, I try and make it seem ridiculous some times but some people still don't get it. Me: Oh I became a Vegetarian because of the fear of being attacked by Animal Souls. :smug: Him: You serious? :aaaaa: Me: Yeah :smug: Him: Hey guys, you know why he's a vegetarian :downs: Me: :geno:
ITT: Compulsive liars who think they're cool.
Explains politics.
I know how to lie godly, but I rarely lie.
On my way to the top.
I can tell great lies when need be, but I used to get away with shit by being honest enough that people don't believe me. Mom: Where are you going? Me: Oh, just going to smoke a bowl or two with my friends and watch a couple movies. Mom: Oh, have fun! Me: :350:
the cake is a lie
Wait, so lying, trouble making kids will have more success then truthful kids? What the hell?!
Well yes, that's how the world works.
The only lies I do are sarcastic ones.
I've never been a good liar. Damn it.
I lie when I lie about lying, which is a lie of an lie that originates from a lie. But if I lied about a lie, is the original lie a truth or did I lied about that lie too? This causes a paradox which is a lie
I'm a good liar but don't because I can get away with most things.
This article is a lie.
I always lie. This post is a lie too
But if the post is a lie that means you don't lie,but that means you just lied by posting that which means tha- :psyboom:
