• The Facepunch Audio Book. ((Voice Actors, pro/semi-pro/decent.))

Some time ago, in what seemed an ordinary evening, I devised of an idea that - in my mind seemed to have potentional. Facepunch houses many members. Everyday people, digital artists, 3D modelers, music makers, trolls, OIFY creeps and whatnot. I figured that, if lucky enough, I might also find a small group of voice actors in the lands of Facepunch. My idea was one of a collaboration between these voice-actors. A scene formed together by audio only. Small sound effects, but mostly the voice, to write the life of whoever you might act as. So, I ask anyone who's in possession of a decent microphone, a bit of artistic talent, and an interest in voice acting, to bring in their part. Here's a small run-down: -A small audio clip of 20-60 seconds long. -It would be great if you could add in some small sound effects to go with the scene. (Think of a shutting door/whispering/echo/reverb/phone-effect.) -Upload to dump.no or a website that does not require download to listen to it, then post a link in this thread. First, before any voice acting is done, we decide of a starting scene. I already had one in mind, but someone else might have a much better idea. My idea was, that all the voice actors would be acting out an insane person, inside a holding cell. These cells are located next to eachother, formed of concrete. Talk loud enough and the person in the cell next to your current can hear what you say, and possibly respond. Since you're insane, you can also imagine voices, things around you, but you're not clear on to what is real, and what is not. You can also voice act a security guard walking past the cells. As long as you can, by yourself, fill about 20 to 60 seconds of dialogue. Do more then just one scentence. Once there has been some show of interest, I'll do my part and voice act as well. As an end-result I envision one long audio clip that, when listened to fully, paints a scene of a Asylum for the Insane, or whatever scene we might come up with. As a final note, any script writers, or people with ideas that might fit into this concept are very welcome to post them here, provided it's actually creative and not filled with internet meme's, gay jokes and racism. Should the thread fail miserably, at least I tried my creativity. :buddy:
Sounds fun. I might do it but I'm busy til friday.
I'd do this if I had a decent microphone.
I'd do this if I had a decent microphone.
As long as it's not a constant crackling/noise/static then you should be good to go. Just don't do anything involving screaming. Like... catching on fire.
Come on, doesn't Facepunch have any (more) voice actors/scriptwriters?
You should start.
Yeah, maybe I should. Eh, I'll give it a try this evening.
Yeah, I'm a voice actor, dunno if I'd have the time to work on the project though.
Well, I suppose doing a single part wouldn't take longer then 30 minutes. A basic, quick script plus the recording and effects. I got inspired to try such a thing on Facepunch after hearing a voice acting collab a while ago. Sadly, I do not remember where I heard it, but it was totally awesome. Some kind of pirate bar scene. It was all edited together perfectly.
