Edit: Pony is faster then aircraft.
Edit: It is a Blackbird SR-71, fastest in world.

good to see you back in action, M
haven't seen you in a long while
I thought pony threads were banned.
That aircraft is hopefully trying to shoot that thing down.
Took ya long enough.
I thought pony threads were banned.
pony megathread is banned because of how big of a drama magnet it was.
polite warnings:
don't come in here to talk about your favorite episode
don't come in here to start bitching about ponies
is that one of those saints row planes
I really hope the subject matter doesn't put people off this, because its pretty fucking good
Even though I'm not a fan of the show, that's some pretty amazing work you got there.
I don't get why people hate anything that contains even the littlest reference of a pony. This is a very great painting. Nice emblem on the wing too :v:
What a waste of talent.

Only real pony fans will get that. uguu
Because it pisses people off when fans shove pony down everyone's throat
Also fuck you automerge.

that's because anyone who isn't OK with the concept rejects it with the force of a thousand suns [sub]desu[/sub]
so where HAVE you been these past three years man, you just kind of
vanished

FP was too distractive, for both school and my pursue for becoming and artist one day. I think that was basicly it. :/
Although I want to post more now, since I learned to not be as easily distracted as I used to be.
Good thing I decided to make a stop in this section today, great work

God forbid he draws what he likes
I'd be drawing pirates left right and fucking centre if I could
How long did it take? That's pretty fucking good.
[editline]idk[/editline]
Also, what software did you use, illustrator?

yeah I read your edit earlier.
Let me explain how this situation goes with every pony related argument I've seen
A: "Hey guys, I drew something. Here's a thread over here, visit it if you like. The name is quite obvious as to what the subject is so you can decide to not look."
B kicks in the door, walks into the middle of the room and shouts "stop shoving this shit in everybody's face!".
It's almost always that guy who's at fault for any arguments, flame wars and consequent bans.

I'd say Photoshop or Coreldraw. Illustrator is vector kinda stuff.
Holy shit dude, you've gotten a lot better

Took maybe a week (I know, slow), and done in Photoshop CS5.

Sometimes, when you grow older, you have to accept to move along. Weather if your friends are gay or like ponies, you have to move along and forget about it. But you have to be mature enough to do that. so please, try again.
I don't like how the pony's head clips the curve of the edge of the Earth. Compositionally, the clipping feels quite awkward. I also find that the clipping confuses the depth of that particular area of the image. I'd bring the pony up so that at least part of it sits against Space.
I'd also play with giving the ship/plane some highlights to bring out its shape a bit against the similarly toned ocean.
Tonally, it might be interesting to do a sunset image here, the dominant colours then being gold/orange, blue and black. This would separate the pony from the Earth/Atmosphere a bit more.
The positioning of the plane feels a bit strange. The fact that the pony's foot clips the wing of the plane and that the pony's speed-trail runs through the same region as the plane's trail confuses the image a bit. I'd try shifting the plane into the background a bit, maybe shrink it and have it a bit lower in the sky and sitting on top of some white/grey cloud cover

Great reply Maloof, thanks for the crit! :)
Yeah I still got loads to learn, especially compositioning. I did make the plane in this color because I wanted to make it look like it was a bit further away, you know how things get a bit blueish desaturated tone when further away in the sky. I positioned the ponies wing (not foot) over the airplane wing in order to make it clear that it was in front of it related to the viewer, thereby increasing the sense of perspective in the painting.
But yeah I need to study composition a lot more, but I won't touch this drawing anymore though. :)
Sort of what I was thinking.
Just a quickie - it's by no means perfect in terms of composition, tone, technique, etc

And welcome back!
waaay too far away maloof but I know what you're saying. The perspective is mostly wonked up due to those close elements in the original, like the trails and the fact there isn't much overlap to show positioning
as a side note I may be biased to keep the plane close because the SR71 has been my favorite piece of air tech since I was young
That blackbird is absolutely gorgeous, brilliant painting
(as for the pony, it's a shame the blackbird doesn't have any weapons)
(its only hope is to pierce it with its nose cone)
(just kidding)
Looks really nice! I agree about the overlapping elements Maloof mentioned (although I'm not really digging his alternate composition). One thing I think would really be worth changing is her mane and tail--the way you have them as all wavey doesn't really seem "speedy". I think if you made them just straight lines, like the Blackbird's engine trails, it'd really increase the sense of speed.
